I brought my 9 yr old German shepherd mix here and the staff was so welcoming. He hates the vets hence why I muzzle him when we go. They were understanding and treated him as if he didn’t have one on. I’ll definitely go back :)
Our first time here. The staff was wonderful, even the customers talked how they have been coming for years and years. I am transferring my other 2 dogs to this vet. Not only close to home, they make you feel welcome. Have a seat in our lobby Dr will be right out. Have not had this in quite a while from the vet I had gone to 30+ years.
For the most part, everything at this clinic is good. The love of the animals, the kindness of the staff, the cleanliness, etc. My only complaint is that every, single time that I call, I'm put on hold. This last time, I was on hold for 7 minutes. From a customer service point of view, I really wish that this would improve.
Waited the typical 45 minutes past our appointment time. There was a fill-in vet who was quite full of himself. We wanted arthritis meds for our aged dog who is in pain. The vet recommended $850.00 worth of tests before he would prescribe meds. We opted for $400.00 worth of tests. The vet asked us to leave our dog there for 45 minutes. After hearing nothing, 90 minutes later we returned for our dog. We had some difficulty getting our dog as no one knew what was going on and the front desk was not allowed to get our dog. The vet could not be found, seriously! The very abrupt office manager finally returned our dog, but after a three hour ordeal we got no prescription. I called the next morning (before the owner suggested I do so). The office manager was quite upset that I called her abrupt even though she turned her back on me and walked away while I was talking to her. My prescription had still not been refilled. They offered me a new appointment to start all over again with a new substitute vet. No thanks.
Took my dog in for a canine influenza shot on Oct. 20. I was told there is a second booster shot required after the initial vax. Before I left the facility I asked when I should bring him back and was told in “2 or 3 weeks.” They charged me $75 for a vaccination that was done by a tech and not the doctor. This was the lesser expensive way to do it! $75 for a shot administered by a vet tech, wow! So three weeks later I was informed that the first shot expired 20 days after it was administered. I was told that I’d have to pay another $75 to repeat the vax. I asked why they told me it was ok to wait 3 weeks and also why they didn’t tell me it would expire in less than 3 weeks. They had no answer. After some discussion she said that I had disabled text and email notifications. Another words it was my fault. I had not. I then asked her when they attempted to contact me to remind me to get the booster. She didn’t know because corporate handles text and email reminder, not the facility staff. ??? I asked to speak with the office manager and was told to call back on Monday. So I called back and it was obvious the receptionist was screening calls for the office manager who was “busy” but wanted to know why I was calling. I asked her to have the manager call me back and she never did. I had my dogs teeth cleaned not long ago and have spent probably $700 or $800 there in the last year. But I guess that doesn’t rate a courtesy call back from an employee. Expecting me to pay $225 (3X$75) order to get what should be $100 for two shots is a joke. I owned the largest pet boarding and daycare facility in Southern Utah and I know what their mark up is on vaccinations. I also know that ignoring an unhappy customer by refusing to speak to them is not a good way to stay in business and retain customers. It’s the worst possible behavior. I hope that extra $75 they tried to squeeze out of me was worth it. I’ve taken my dog and business elsewhere.
I have a lot of anxiety myself and I'm sure my dog does too LOL Island pet hospital was extremely understanding and accommodating of our needs today. I am truly grateful. THANK YOU
