My 9 year old rescue hound just had our first appointment with Berkeley Animal Hospital and I don't think I've ever had a better experience with a vet. We arrived early and they put us in a room and we had plenty of time for my highly anxious dog to settle down. The technicians and assistants had a huge selection of treats to give him that accommodated his allergies, and they spent time earning his trust. He settled down enough to lie down several times, which is a first in a vet setting! It was honestly a fun experience. The vet was excited to see a real coonhound, since they're so rare out here in California. She listened to all my concerns and previous experiences with his health and asked insightful and respectful questions, and provided me with detailed, high-level answers. It was clear she understood all the consequences of his health history and came up with the next steps for his care as a healthy senior dog :) And she understood and shared a laugh with me about post-grad life. The prices were affordable, and they were happy to go through every line item with me, and to postpone some treatment to another date to make it more affordable. I really appreciated their kindness, good vibes, and helpfulness. <3 They are better than any other vet I've been to, and I highly recommend them for your pet's care. Also! as someone else mentioned: they scanned my dog's microchip, just to make sure the info was correct and to make sure he was in a national registry. I've never seen this as a routine practice before, and now I wonder why it isn't universal at ALL vets! Taking just a few extra few seconds to scan the microchip shows me that this practice really cares about the animals.
Great experience at Berkeley Animal Hospital with our new addition to the family!! Atmosphere is wonderful and all staff are so friendly and warm, helpful, and very welcoming! Oh yeah, and us humans got treated great too 😄
All of the staff at Berkeley Animal Hospital have been extremely kind and helpful to both my animals and me. The pricing if fair. I have never felt like they were trying to add unnecessary things to the bill( unlike my last vet). Dr. Holiday knows her stuff. She is compassionate and skilled at handling animals in trying circumstances- Pretty much everything I look for in a Vet.
My husky and I recently made our first visit to this new practice, and I was quite impressed (she seemed pleased, too, though the treats may have influenced her opinion). From the reception area to the treatment rooms, staff members are calm, kind, professional, and proactive. Noticed that patients/clients were directed to treatment rooms quickly, which made the reception area less fraught. That Dr. Moulton's on staff is another big plus; had many positive experiences with her when she was at another practice. Metered street parking, but meters on this stretch of San Pablo Ave. aren't high-priced, so not a big deal.
I’m a local dog walker and Dr Holiday came HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by many of my clients who have shy anxious dogs. She did not disappoint. We had a lovely first visit yesterday. I love Dr Holidays calm energy! She explained things thoroughly and in an accessible way that was easy to understand. The staff was friendly and followed my instructions not to pet or reach for my dog. They let him come behind the counter and sniff them. In addition, they were sensitive to the fact that he’s reactive with large dogs and ensured that there weren’t any in the lobby when we checked out. I will be recommending them to everyone in the future! My dog has seen a different primary vet including a veterinary behaviorist and Dr. Holiday was still able to recommend some products that hadn’t been mentioned to us before. Bonus: They offer 5 happy visits where your dog can come in and have positive interactions with the staff, patient rooms, and doctor. I love it here.
Just had our second vet visit at Berkeley Animal Hospital and they continue to go above and beyond for my dog. They let us funnel treats into him to get him to calm down somewhat, and they asked what he was allergic to so he could get compatible treats. We were there for a blood/urine test. At previous vets, they would drag my dog away into the back and then come back 30 minutes later to tell me how many people they needed to hold him still, and how anxious and upset he was. BUT THIS TIME was different. The assistants asked if I thought he'd be better if I was there helping. They let me come into a small room with their ultrasound and a small padded trough for him to lay in on his back. We were able to flip him over easily and then as soon as he was on his back, I was scratching his chin and feeding him treats. He held perfectly still while they withdrew the samples they needed. It wasn't quick but it was so, so much less stressful and hard for him than previous vet visits elsewhere. Berkeley Animal Hospital staff have my absolute love forever for this. I really, really feel their care & understanding of animals when I'm there.
