Let me share with you all a bit more about Big Canoe Animal Rescue, also known as BCAR. I initially reached out to them for my cat, Tom, who I thought I would have to rehome. I had spent a significant amount of money on his care, but it was all worth it. When I informed BCAR that I had used the funds intended for my youngest cat, Athena, on Tom's care instead, they generously offered to cover Athena's vet bill and spaying procedure. BCAR demonstrated their dedication to helping animals in need and their commitment to building relationships with the people who care for them. Throughout Tom's healing process, they kept in touch and showed genuine concern for his well-being. Their compassion and professionalism truly impressed me, and I wholeheartedly recommend BCAR for anyone seeking animal rescue and veterinary services. Big Canoe Animal Rescue

This precious Rescue Honey is bringing much joy to our family. Carol met with us and made sure we had what we needed to take her to our home. If you want to rescue go and see them in Big Canoe

Be careful filling out the adoption form for this rescue. They have policies they try to enforce without putting them on the adoption form. They are not in accordance with Georgia State Law. I would not adopt from them.

A wonderful shelter for dogs and cats. A nonprofit run by volunteers that all live in the Big Canoe community.

Private community rescue facility that takes in dogs and cats. No sure if a non-resident can adopt a pet. They advertise in the local newspaper, so I presume so. Staff is very loving and caring to the animals. This place is no kill, so animals are cared for until they are adopted.

Non-kill shelter designed for pets that are found in the city of Jasper, GA. This shelter is located within the gates of Big Canoe. To get there, you need to call the Big Canoe POA or get an invite from a homeowner. You are also able to rent a home and visit that way as well. The exact directions are this: go through the North Gate, take a left at the four-way stop sign, take a left at the fork, it is on the left. Do not go through the gate at the end. That is employees only. The entrance is immediately before it. Will not accept strays from any other city. They will recommend shelter like their's for those strays it cannot accept.
