As a member of the Fairhaven neighborhood since 1979, we have been providing full service veterinary care and referrals to the wonderful communities throughout Whatcom, Skagit, Island counties, and beyond for over 45 years. We are firmly committed to compassionate, professional and individually tailored care for all of our patients and their pet parents. Dr. Schasch is my favorite doctor at Fairhaven Vet. She gets to the point, asks as many questions as she needs to pinpoint issues, and cares about what happens. Not every doctor or every vet hospital is like that. I love the environment and ambiance here. They play soothing music and everyone stays in their car until it's time to come in. This makes it the quietest veterinary office I've been to, which my cats appreciate. They do most of the work they need to do right in the room, so your pet doesn't have to leave. This makes it a much easier time and keeps their stress level down.

If you have an anxious pet (or if you are anxious about taking your pet to the vet) this clinic is perfect. There are so many ways they help, the smallest details that have a huge impact- and how they truly are so compassionate. They are also really great at giving estimates and understand when folks have to prioritize treatment.

I was looking for a new vet in town, as our previous one was quite careless, disorganized, and insensitive. Finding Fairhaven Veterinary and Dr. Hinckley has been like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. And seeing as we are getting close to the end of our rainbow, they have given my senior dog the utmost care and attention. It has been an incredibly emotional year watching my best friend get older and struggle with the ailments that come with age, and I feel truly supported by the whole team. Their staff is quick to reply to emails and phone calls, and our office visits have been calm and pain-free! I also feel like they listen to my concerns and look at issues holistically rather than just prescribing medications on a whim. We are now on medications that actually work! My almost-14-year old is the most important thing in the world to me, and I can't imagine a better place for him to receive care. I know they are busy, yet they always make time for us. I'd give 6 stars if I could. Thank you so much to every single person at Fairhaven Veterinary, we are so grateful for you! Here he is at age 13.5 after doing a 10-mile hike :)

We love Fairhaven Vet! We have been taking our pets here for many years, and have had great experiences with all the staff. Everyone is super friendly, informative, and understanding in stressful situations. While my animals are not the fondest of being out of the home and around people they don’t know, Fairhaven does their best to make the experience go as smoothly possible. Our dog recently had a dislocated hip, and they were so helpful throughout the stress of it, and made immediate appointments for us and also took her in ASAP when surgery was needed for it. She is doing great now! They’ve also been super great with our cat!
