We went many times to the Seattle Humane Society. We were not sure if we were even going to get a pet, but they were always helpful and kind. As new pet owners they gave us great guidance. It must have been the third time we had gone to the humane society that week and played with the cats. Then one day "Best friend"(the name they had given him) was there. We played with him for a couple minutes then I left to play with a different cat just 5 feet away. "Best friend" then poked his head out of his enclosure and turned his head towards me to see what I was doing as my partner continued to play with him. He has been part of our family for almost a year. His name is now Coconut and we are thankful for what the humane society does.
We adopted Levi (formerly known as Gaston) about 3 weeks ago from Seattle Humane and I can’t imagine my life without this little bean! My partner and initially came in with the intent to visit two dogs in particular but after chatting with the wonderful staff, telling them more about lifestyle, how we have cats, where we live, etc. They suggested we meet with this lil guy and we absolutely fell in love. I am truly thankful for the staff who took the time to really talk to us, as well as let us reminisce about our pup who had passed this last year. They lead with kindness in all our interactions and I hope they know how happy we are with Levi in our life! He’s a puppy but he’s been thriving, learning to be a city dog, and a getting to know his feline siblings! Thank you Seattle Humane for helping us add this wonderful addition to our family! ❤️
We’ve adopted all of our pets from Seattle Humane Society including our newest little guy, Ringo when he was just over 2 months old. Not only is he perfect, healthy and fun, the staff was knowledgeable and kind, the facilities were immaculate, and we left feeling confident we made the right choice and were ready to take care of him well. Thank you Seattle Humane!
We stopped by on a Saturday with no real planning, and were surprised at how very busy they were. With a facility full of animals rescued from a hoarding situation, the staff did an absolutely incredible job of moving through the list of potential adopters. Our hearts melted at our first glimpse of the sweet kitten Thackery Binx, and luck was on our side as we left with him just a little while later. I cannot give enuf props to the staff that day, it was absolutely heartwarming to watch folks leave with their new family members and the staff quickly moving on to make the next match.
Best shelter I’ve ever been to. The animals all seemed happy and well cared for with clean comfortable enclosures. The staff were amazing. The volunteers made it a really pleasant experience. It was clear how much everyone cared for both the animals and the humans who were looking for new companions. The adoption process was easy and straightforward though I do recommend visiting their website before you go so you understand how it works. I was shown to the cat room and instructed to choose my top three favorites. I got to meet/handle my top three picks. Then I was given background info on my selections so I knew what they’d experienced before coming to Seattle humane. Then I filled out some paperwork and chatted with some folks while they ‘boxed up’ my to go order. 😂they even gave me instructions on how to introduce my new kitty to the kitty I had at home. They sent us home with a blanket, a toy and a bag of food so my new buddy was right at home as soon as we got back to my house. (He’s doing great now!)It was a wonderful experience start to finish and I hope that someday I’ll be able to volunteer at Seattle Humane myself.
We adopted Bon Bon about 3 weeks ago (now her name is Khaleesi) and we couldn't have had a better experience! My 16 year old Boarder collie passed away last November, and I had been waiting for a sign that my girl came back to me. I saw Truffle (Bon Bons sister) online, which was my old dogs name. Something told me my girl had to be at Seattle Humane, and I was right ❤️ we couldn't be happier with our pup! The people at Seattle Humane were kind and helpful, and incredibly forthcoming about all their pets' special behaviors. We could tell that they weren't just trying to empty their cages, but that they cared whether their pets go to a good home. Highly recommend!
