Description Located in Bellevue, Seattle Humane is a donor-funded, not-for-profit animal shelter dedicated to saving lives, completing families and keeping pets with the people who love them. Seattle Humane is not a municipal shelter and it does not hold stray contracts or investigate cruelty cases. The shelter accepts animals surrendered by their owners and transfers the majority of pets in need from other shelters. Seattle Humane is open six days a week, offers adoption services, a pet food bank, low-cost veterinary services, and humane education for youth of all ages.

The shelter is clean and welcoming. The volunteers are fantastic and informative. We went on a Sunday and there were a lot of adopters and they were short staffed so the process took a while. Even still, the staff did not shortcut anything and gave quality attention to make sure that our new family members transferred home well. We are so happy with our kittens.

We spontaneously decided to make a pit stop at Seattle Humane after my appointment in Issaquah and somehow we ended up bringing Riley (formerly known as Ursula) home. We love her so much! We always talked about getting a little dog and kitty to grow up together (no little dog yet.) We also always thought we would have boys but Riley immediately came right to us at the shelter and was so playful. When they opened the window she climbed up my arm. I could not leave without adopting her. Front desk folks were super helpful and the volunteers are so kind and really care about all the animals. Riley is a perfect addition to our family.

We went many times to the Seattle Humane Society. We were not sure if we were even going to get a pet, but they were always helpful and kind. As new pet owners they gave us great guidance. It must have been the third time we had gone to the humane society that week and played with the cats. Then one day "Best friend"(the name they had given him) was there. We played with him for a couple minutes then I left to play with a different cat just 5 feet away. "Best friend" then poked his head out of his enclosure and turned his head towards me to see what I was doing as my partner continued to play with him. He has been part of our family for almost a year. His name is now Coconut and we are thankful for what the humane society does.

We adopted Levi (formerly known as Gaston) about 3 weeks ago from Seattle Humane and I can’t imagine my life without this little bean! My partner and initially came in with the intent to visit two dogs in particular but after chatting with the wonderful staff, telling them more about lifestyle, how we have cats, where we live, etc. They suggested we meet with this lil guy and we absolutely fell in love. I am truly thankful for the staff who took the time to really talk to us, as well as let us reminisce about our pup who had passed this last year. They lead with kindness in all our interactions and I hope they know how happy we are with Levi in our life! He’s a puppy but he’s been thriving, learning to be a city dog, and a getting to know his feline siblings! Thank you Seattle Humane for helping us add this wonderful addition to our family! ❤️

We’ve adopted all of our pets from Seattle Humane Society including our newest little guy, Ringo when he was just over 2 months old. Not only is he perfect, healthy and fun, the staff was knowledgeable and kind, the facilities were immaculate, and we left feeling confident we made the right choice and were ready to take care of him well. We adopted Bob, now Francis, after meeting him, my daughter fell in love, at Sea-Meow 2024. He is doing fantastic. No fear of the big cats, integrated in a couple days. He loves everyone, people and kitties alike. He has been a wonderful addition to our family. Thx for all you do Seattle Humane!
