We adopted Jett with a semi-known eye issue. We knew he had an ulcer. Though we tried resolving his ulcer at our regular vet first (and have zero complaints with the way they treated us), sometimes you truly need a specialist. I read all the reviews and chose Eye Care for Animals. We made an appointment and later had our vet send a referral too. Though it took awhile to get in, even with a referral, we were waitlisted and got a call very last minute. We took it! Everyone has been friendly and professional. Dr. Smith knew what was going on and has walked us through everything. Dr. Smith, Janelle, and Morgan have been wonderful with Jett and patiently answered all of my questions! Peggy too. We brought Jett home from The Animal Foundation 3 months ago today and, yesterday, we went from 4 meds (8 drops a day) to 2 meds (3 drops a day). We are incredibly grateful to our primary vet for getting us on the right track, starting on day 2, and for Eye Care for Animals for the continued follow up care. Jett is progressing amazingly and we are appreciative to everyone that has been caring for him! Since becoming a patient, we've met many others...including our neighbor. Everyone has been very happy with the Eye Care for Animals team!
Dr. Smith saved my cat's life. We were getting care for his glaucoma elsewhere but after months of treatment they couldn't figure out what was going on. Got a second opinion at Eye Care for Animals and Dr. Smith from our first visit wasted no time not only diagnosing the underlying issue, but also was very direct and straightforward about the seriousness of it and need for action. We trusted his diagnosis and recommendations and felt we had to quickly make the very difficult decision of having our baby's eye removed. Once we did everyone at this facility was professional and patient with our questions, phone calls and mini-mega freakouts leading up to the day of his surgery. After the surgery they confirmed in a biopsy what Dr. Smith had suspected. Our cat had a malignant level two melanoma growth in his eye which was the underlying issue causing the discoloration and glaucoma in his eye. Now after seeing an oncologist since his surgery and completing the first rounds of immunotherapy my baby has no signs of metastasis and happier and healthier than he was before he had the surgery. Who knows if that would have been the case if had we not received such a quick and accurate diagnosis from Dr. Smith and waited just a few months longer. Also Dr. Smith did such an amazing job with his eye. Today after just about two months he looks absolutely great. Cute as ever with his one eye. He is happier, healthier and we really feel like has a new lease on life. I'm in awe of how much it's helped him and I couldn't have asked for a better outcome. We can't thank Dr. Smith and his office enough. Anyone reading this and facing the tough choice of enucleation of your pet's eye know, without hesitation, you are in great hands with Dr. Smith and his team at Eye Care for Animals.
This team is nothing short of fantastic. My poor dog had surgery twice to fix his entropy and cherry eye with another vet before we heard about Dr. Smith. From the very beginning, they make you feel like family. They treat your dog as if it is their dog. The surgery is not inexpensive, but I can tell you that you get what you pay for. I learned that at the hard way. If I had any advice to give to anybody, it is never sacrifice your pets well-being to save a few dollars to somebody who says they can do the surgery that ends up failing. Not everyone who says they can perform this surgery can! I would never deal with anyone but a specialist again. Five stars all the way. Thank you Dr. Smith and team!🙏
Dr. Chris Smith and his whole crew are amazing. She can still see!...Thank Goodness, I was referred to them, during the pandemic shutdown. My dog had a ulcer over half way through her eye. A different vet had told me 2 weeks before, it was on the mend and to stop the drops. Well, that vet almost cost my dog her eye. If it wasn't for Eye Care for Animals and the skilled Vets n Techs, my Chooch's eye would of been lost. Complete compassion and concern for your pet's wellbeing and the over the top service was quite refreshing.
This is an amazing place! I was originally off-put by the extensive time to get an appointment, and the fee for extended hours emergencies, but after working with them, I get it. More than that, I RESPECT it. That said, my cat had an eye injury from my other cat (bad boy!) our regular vet felt unqualified to address. This was after two visits, and I appreciated her candor. I looked into the animal ophthalmologists she recommended. One of them was an "absolutely not" based on the substance (not emotion) of the reviews, another was way too far away, but this last one seemed doable. Fast-forward, the estimate for surgery was HUGE! I researched other vets who were experienced in the surgery (corneal sequestrum), and one all the way out to Colorado Springs seemed fully qualified yet less costly> But were they really? Nonetheless, my kitty is worth it and I would figure it out. But, before that decision, we had a bunch of eye meds to try to get him healthy. And this is where my review is important... On our follow-up visit a month later, after I had expressed my willingness to scrabble, cobble, and beg for funds for the surgery, Dr. Smith said my silly boy progressed exceptionally well, and no surgery was indicated at this time. What??? This gave me A LOT of faith in Dr. Smith, given he knew I was willing to pay whatever the cost (and didn't know I was thinking of going to CO), but still said it wasn't needed. Dr. Smith only cares about your furbaby. Full stop. I have full faith in him and his staff--despite the rules, wait times, fees, and other obstacles--that what he says is what is best. My silly boy isn't out of the woods completely, but he is doing fantastic! Just be sure to check whether the pricey meds are available for humans. I got some great discounts at local pharmacies using a variety of apps.
Our pets are so precious to us. Dr Smith and his team care ❤️. He is patient and gentle.
