As a volunteer with Cat Crusade on and off for the last 6 years, I've witnessed dozens of not hundreds of adoption stories. The kitties come to Cat Crusade from all kinds of troubles and walks of life. The rescue rehabilitates and gives the cats a new lease on life. All I can say is - thank god for this rescue and the kindness of people to give these kitties love and a new home. Always Adopt, don't shop. Cat Crusade is a perfect place to find your new furry love. Prince Diamond comes to mind. This black and white tuxedo boy came from a hoarding situation as a kitten. He was so malnourished and starved that he could no longer walk. He had to get a tube put in to feed him. He healed slowly, got his legs back, and later found his forever home. His story highlights exactly what Cat Crusade is there for. There have also been numerous adorable loving cats that came from the euthanasia list at the public county shelters. They found homes through Cat Cusade. They have kitties of all colors, ages, sometimes rare breeds. Some get adopted quicker than others - and its always great to see them go to their home. Some kitties take longer, sometimes months or longer. Which is why the volunteers put their time and effort week after week, to love and care for these cats. Cat Rescue is hard, and many ppl don't know how bad the cat overpopulation problem is in Florida. Cat Crusade does its best with limited resources, and has hundreds of happy endings to show for it. Stop by say hi. And consider adopting a feline friend from Cat Crusade!
I adopted a 4-year-old female cat from Cat Crusade via PetSmart, and it was a wonderful experience. All of the animals are very well cared for, the facilities are clean and cozy, but I was most especially impressed with the staff (which I think is mostly or all volunteers). So kind and helpful. I highly recommend Cat Crusade for cat adoptions!
I Adopted a lovely kitten, however the adoption process was upsetting.. Firstly there was a mixup with her description. Then when she had to be picked up, which was at the last minute. When I arrived she and a few other kittens were given their shots. I had no idea she had not been spayed and had to give a $100 refundable deposit after I had her spayed. When I complained, Suzanne had her spayed at the Humane Society.
If you can’t take care of your cats anymore, and want to find a safe place to give them up, this organization is perfect. They prioritize the comfort, health, and happiness of the cats, give them plenty of room for the cats to live in, are quick to accept surrenders, and have a no kill policy. Your never have to worry about your cat being euthanized due to time constraints, they can stay as long as they need. All the cats there were happy and playful when I saw them. The staff member who helped me was extremely kind and understanding, and prioritized the well being of my cat. She helped walk me through the complicated process of giving up your cat. I could not say enough positive things about Cat Crusades and their services.
I had the worst experience ever!!! We were going to adopt a cat, we choose the one that entire family including my daughter got in love with. I filled out the application and other paperwork and then the lady who works there ( Suzanne) was supposed to bring the cat to our house. Then she start texting me to schedule and then reschedule the day when she is coming, and we were sitting and waiting for the whole week. Then after a few days she simply texted me that someone else adopted this cat!! She just FORGOT to mention that someone else filled out application before us! Honestly, I think she is lying. Anyway, my 11 year old daughter was crying, the whole family is very upset! Moreover, my daughter is so upset that she doesn’t want to get any pet for the next few months... Very unprofessional! I’m very disappointed!
Unfortunately I have requested help on numerous occasions and am never responded to. I feel extremely sorry for the cats that are locked up in the cages for months at a it's almost as if they are forgotten. It's very sad and I'm not even a cat person. If they are not going to help the poor cats or respond to callers wanting to help maybe PetSmart can let another organization that does a better job use their space.
