Dr. Baron was absolutely amazing for my 14 year old dog addi. She went above and beyond for us. She was very thorough, she found and fixed the problem very quickly. She was very empathetic and took the time to explain things to me. The whole staff was very welcoming and kind. I highly recommend
I can't say enough good things about a bad situation. My wife and I took our oldest cat Isabella here after hours because she was having a hard time. The after hours team was super attentive, talked us through what was going on and really felt with us throughout the situation. Unfortunately, we had to put her down because of what all was going on. They walked us through everything. They gave us time with her and really made the best of a bad situation. We had opted to have her cremated. You'd think that's where this story ends. No. I picked up Isabella (the front desk person was super understanding and sweet) and brought her home. In the bag was a beautiful wooden case with her remains and a paw print. You'd think that's where the story ends. No. We got a card in the mail from Dr Riffe and the team on the same day that had impressions of her paws and her little button nose. (omg, we cried so hard when we saw the nose prints) You'd think that's where the story ends. No. Today we got another card in the mail that they planted a tree in memory of her. (again, we cried). They really made a bad situation better. We are crushed over our kitty, and they kept our feelings in mind. Thank you!
Never, ever, ever take your pet here. Our dog suddenly became lethargic, wouldn’t eat, breathing was off and after monitoring, it became clear that she was quickly declining. This clinic is the closest 24 hour, and we’ve been there before with no issues. She was there 20 hours. We were told that she was ready to come home. She was not at all better. If anything, she was worse. We told them that she was still not herself. They seemed to think she was completely fine. We were charged $3700. X-ray, 2 ultrasounds and not even 24 hours with them. Next day when she wasn’t better, dropped another $166 on meds - including 2 appetite stimulants. Why in the world was she prescribed 2 appetite stimulants with no direction or clarification? The overnight vet felt that there was a good chance she has pancreatitis, so she started her on a 3 day course of meds. When the day time vet came in, she said that she just thought she had increased liver levels and not pancreatitis and discontinued the meds. We had been told at that time that she was doing better after that first dose. She was sent home in horrible shape. The next day I got a text from the vet that stated that her radiology report stated “suggestive of pancreatitis”. The vet literally stated that even with that on the radiology report, there still wasn’t enough to diagnose her with that. Keep in mind that this is after she was home and not getting better. We feel that she saw the report and is trying to justify why she stopped the pancreatitis med. We can’t afford to take her back. We are in almost $4000. She is 10 years old. So now we are having to watch her still struggle. We literally paid thousands for them to send her home the same, if not worse, than when she came in. Their prices are ridiculous. We paid $461 for an X-ray and then another $159 to have it read. Now not only are we strapped financially, we still have a sick dog.
So grateful to all of the caring and ambitious vets who work at VCA deer creek, but especially Dr. Dooley & Dr. Glawe. Our dog has a tumor in a sensitive area, and our regular vet really scared us about what his longterm issues might be and were fearful to do the surgery, but Dr. Dooley made us feel confident, safe, and cared for when he explained the surgery to us. Our boy feels comfortable being here, he gets tons of love and cheese from the vets, and we couldn’t be happier. We’ll definitely be back, even post-surgery to remain in their care.
I took my dog Brodi here after more than a week of stomach issues. The actual appointment was fine, we were seen quickly on a Saturday morning and they took good care of him when he went for tests. However, the staff wasn’t the most helpful and didn’t seem to communicate well either with me or with each other. The vet advised a treatment plan that was then contradicted by the vet tech when she came in for approval. The vet also went through every possibility of what could cause stomach issues in dogs, even things that were very very unlikely, which wasn’t helpful as someone without a vet background. We didn’t find out until they came with the cost estimates that VCA doesn’t have a lab or radiologist on-site and results for Brodi’s tests would only be available in 5-7 business days. How is that possible at an emergency vet? Had I known this, I would have never brought Brodi in. The final disappointment came after the appointment when VCA never contacted us with test results. We had to get another fecal sample with our regular vet and I have to assume everything was fine on the x-ray. Altogether, we wasted $108 for a fecal test that we never heard back about and $462 on an x-ray that was never read. There are better options for vet care and I was very disappointed by the service here.
If your animal is actively dying this may be a good place to go. Been here 5 hours. They took my cat back over 2 hours ago for blood work and xray. No idea where he is. They told me around hour 4 that it was maybe 15 more minutes for his treatment. I’m still here. They also didn’t seem to know where my cat was when they came in to update me, asking if he was in here with me. 2 stars because I have to take some accountability for my choices bringing my sick cat here. He may have been fine over Christmas but I didn’t want to risk it. Lesson learned, unless my pet is critically injured, I’ll be avoiding. $1500 to find out my cat has a tummy ache (again I’ll take accountability for making the choice to bring him into an ER). Wish me luck. Maybe we’ll get discharged before Christmas.
