What a great clinic! We went inside, filled in a form to inform then about what's needed. Handed out cat over and at 4pm we picked him up again. Quick, reliable, no nonsense and clear instructions about after care. Also very affordable! We had quotes from other clinics, and they vary from $200-$750! We were done for $110 (neuter $74, chip $35)
I took my 7mo old puppy to be spayed with SPVHS and they were amazing with her. They were so caring and really took great care of her. Their prices were far less than our regular vet too. I will be recommending them to all my friends who are also going to be spaying/neutering their pets soon.
We went in thinking about getting a cat and BOY did they deliver! We worked mainly with a girl named Eden. She was very knowledgeable about all the animals and even though she was busy she never made us feel rushed or pushed aside. Its a super small shelter, but what I liked most was all the cats were in one room. Some were in kennels but they also had some free-roaming cats. It was nice because you got to see in real-time how each cat was with other cats. They were upfront with all the medical information about each cat, making it easy to decide. It's also a no-kill shelter, and they have a resident kitty who's a little feral and doesn't like to be touched, but she vibes with the other cats. We ended up walking out with a cute little tuxedo cat named Moira now named Gordita Crunch or Gordie. I didn't get to see the dog side, but while we were there we got to see a little girl go home with her new puppy and it was really cute. They also work with a nearby animal hospital to offer a free first vet visit and the visit covers up to 500$ of the most common ailments that go along with being in a shelter. Overall, it's one of the better shelters I've been to. I've been to quite a few in the Denver area. Highly Recommend.
This is Sophie! While we did not adopt her from the Humane Society of the South Platte, we did get her spayed there on 3/13/24 due to affordability. WE WERE SO IMPRESSED! They treated her kindly, we were sent home with everything we needed, and they triaged a question we had a few days later. Her incision is small, lines approximated, and is healing perfectly. So happy we took her there, thank you to everyone who cared for her 🥰
Adopted my sweet cat here last summer. Staff isn’t super friendly, and they didn’t tell me about the health problems my cat had until after I had signed the adoption papers, leading to vet bills for health problems. Definitely ask before adopting here about the pet’s health info and behavioral history as I have seen some other reviews confirming this as well.
What a great experience! We tried out MaxFund Dog Shelter before coming here and it was night and day. The dogs actually ran up to the volunteers and were excited to see them. You can tell they took good care of them. The lady who helped us was very sweet, and allowed us to go through the adoption process that very same day. This is Dixie, we adopted her about 3 weeks ago and has been living her best life ever since then! I recommend this shelter!
