I adopted my little guy several years ago and had a very positive experience. It takes special people to commit to rehabilitating and finding furever homes for animals who don't have one. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to do this with often very little information. I found PPAH to commit to doing the right thing by the animal and taking the steps to ensure the home is a good fit. Their priority is the animal, as it should be. They didn't know much about the kitty I adopted other than he had a rough start in life. It has been a commitment on my part to continually help him feel loved and comfortable in his home. Some pets require more patience, and I'm grateful I can be the one to help him feel part of a loving home. Thank you, PPAH, for helping facilitate this relationship. It's taken awhile but my kitty has become quite the love bug.
Supportive and helpful transition. Foremost thanks to the great foster, Jaye Catalano. You made it easier for us to adopt and the valuable information about Earl & Cloudy. Our big thanks goes to Kari Johnson too.
I adopted from Precious Pets Almost Home a year ago, and had a wonderful experience. The interview and screening process was extensive - they called all references I gave them, and did require proof from my landlord that my lease accepted cats. However, as part of that screening process they listened for exactly what I was looking for, and were able to recommend the perfect cat for me. I am so thankful for the hours that the volunteers spent with me on the phone and in person with the foster - it can be hard to find a good fit for your home, but I found mine thanks to PPAH! As he was fostered rather than kept in a shelter, I knew exactly what kind of personality he would have, and had support from PPAH throughout the first few weeks of his time at his new home. Very happy with my confident, playful, affectionate cat!
I had a wonderful experience adopting a kitten with this organization. First of all, the fact that it is volunteer-run is incredible as the staff are doing this work out of the goodness of their hearts. Though I did not personally find the process to take long (actually it was quite fast) unlike some other reviewers, please keep in mind that these are volunteers and this is not a large organization with lots of staff, patience is key and such a big decision should not be rushed anyways. I appreciated the thoroughness of the adoption process (phone interview + calling references) as you can tell they truly care about finding these cats a suitable home. The foster that my cat was staying with was so kind, knowledgable, and helpful throughout the whole process of adoption. He is still available to coach me through my first week with my kitten at home which is truly appreciated. I feel fully supported by him and the rest of the staff at PPAH! Overall, I have nothing but positive things to say about PPAH and would recommend this org to anyone looking to add a furry addition to their home. I am absolutely in love with my kitten and so glad that she had such kind people caring for her before she came home with me 🥹
Went out of my way to save a 15 year old cat who’s owner passed and didn’t have much time to live, and wanted to give the cat the best possible life. However, this organization used my private information (contact, address, and family life) without my authorization. If you plan on working with these people in the future be sure you are aware they disregard your right to privacy! Luckily the malicious attempt made by one of their representatives had no affect because my family already had approval from their housing for current pets. Do not recommend adopting through this agency if you do not like your private information being used without permission! Such a shame.
Adopters beware. These people are not to be trusted. I adopted my cat exactly 1 year, 5 weeks and 5 days ago. At his 3 month checkup he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. I was told at the time of his adoption that he was about 3 years old. Now I do realize with a rescue age is not exact. However, after his diagnosis I was told by 3 vets, yes THREE, that it was obvious there was no way he was close to 3 years old and he was more like 10 to 12 years. Huge difference between 3 and 10. After 10 months of doing all I could for him (medication, diet, biopsies, ultrasounds, daily IV fluids, feeding him by hand and much more) I had to say goodbye to him today. For an organization that vetted me thoroughly. Even calling my vet to ensure I was taking proper care of my current cat, they certainty don't take care of the cats in their care or use vets that can spot the obvious. If you adopt from them make sure you have the cat thoroughly tested by a reputable vet as soon as you get them so you are prepared. The last thing you want to do is say goodbye to your loved one almost less than a year after welcoming them home, like I did. Now please don't get me wrong I love my cat and was ready and willing to do whatever it took to give him a happy, comfortable life. The only thing I will do differently in the future is have extensive testing done on any cat any age that I rescue regardless of who I adopt from (but it will not be from PPAH). It's just sad and wrong that I had him in my life for so little of a time and that he was not able to live his best life.
