Very weird. It truly seems like they do not want people to adopt the cats. Everything went fairly smoothly, although very drawn out. I was approved to adopt, passed the follow up interview. Then suddenly they tried to get me to adopt a different cat randomly? Was reapproved for the original cat I thought I was already adopting? Then followed their directions, looked at the list of 22(!) products they suggested, even bought most of them. Then scheduled a drop off date and gave them my address. I mentioned how it seems a little strange that they don't let people pick up their adopted pets and demand to drop them off-- just for saying it's strange, Jasmine called and said it would be best to cancel the adoption. Any sort of criticism or questions will prevent you from adopting. Jasmine is the Soup Nazi but for cat adoption. All of the negative reviews sound right to me. I am very skeptical of the 5/5 reviews. Go to Harmony House for Cats instead!
Please consider coming once a week for even just a month to volunteer before you try to adopt. I'm a weekly volunteer at HKK. Jasmine is operating on a shoestring budget and minimal staff. Top priority is taking care of the cats. She is the last resort for cats scheduled to be euthanized. She always takes cats who would be refused by most shelters as too old or sick. Any condition, she rescues them and gives them a home. She works full time at an animal clinic to earn money for HKK and just doesn't have enough time or staff to manage the adoption process very well. If the cats were in cages with name plates, we probably would know names better, but I'm grateful for no cages. The cats are happy and fed and they respond to "Baby" and "Sweetie" just fine! I love socializing with my fur babies, driving an hour and a half each way to get here. The people here are loving and doing as much as they can with limited resources. Please consider getting involved or donating to help us improve our services.
Hi Kitty Kitty is a very unique shelter. It is a no cage no kill shelter where cats can be free as possible while still being cared for. In addition to being a shelter, Hi Kitty Kitty is a sanctuary for senior kitties who might otherwise not have a chance at a comfortable life. Everyone there is so passionate about each of these babies, and making sure they go to the best homes for them. I highly recommend this shelter.
Very nice place, nice people running it. They knew their kitties and made sure we meet all of them and got their individual backgrounds. Love that all was free roaming the place and no cages. That environment produces well socialized individuals. Highly recommend a visit.
Update: another reviewer stated they knew the names of every single cat and they were well taken care of and clean. I had the exact opposite experience. Not only did they not know all the cats names, they didnt know their gender or their adoption status off hand. I was shown "female" cats who were actually males. The positive reviews feel paid for from what I can tell and from.my experience with paid reviews. I wish this place would get reported and investigated. Jasmine is hoarding them and treats potential clients like crap Something is off about this place. Like the other reviewers have stated, when you try to go through the adoption process, your application is "lost", you're told they'll call you back, they don't. The place is dirty compared to other shelters I've been to. The owner was incredibly rude when I mentioned my senior cat passed recently and basically told me I should have done better. The weird thing is, even though everyone is having issues adopting here, the kittens we zaw on the website were all "I dunno, I think they were adopted or something". How do you not know what happened to the cats in your shelter? I would think adoptions would be common knowledge. I even followed up with the owner several times to find out why after 4 weeks I still had not heard back. She blew me off completely. Went to another shelter and were contacted within 24 hrs, went through and finished the adoption process in less then 48 hrs and had the kittens home with us within 5 days of submitting our application. Something is funny here... not sure what it is, but beware the games they'll play with you.
Hi Kitty Kitty has lots of wonderful and very sweet kitties here!! This shelter works very hard to care for all the cats, and I can tell they treat them well. They will very kindly work with you and help match you with your furrever friend! They're different from most shelters and plus they are volunteer run which is incredible. If you're looking to save a sweet kitty's life this is the place for you! Stop by on Saturdays for their adoption events =^^=
