We adopted two kittens very healthy had shots and when old enough. Got spayed through purr project . We have known amber and followed the rescue for two years and have seen many many good deeds. They will transport your pet to be neutered and only charge what the vet charges/ good rate. Support this rescue. Check out thier adoption events every week
I love dealing and working with Yuma Purr Project. We have 2 adopted dogs and 2 adopted cats. All of our animals received vaccines, were spayed/neutered through the project and time I’ve had a question, it has always been answered. I’ve attended and volunteered at numerous adoption events and will say the safety of the animals has always been 1st priority. Sometimes there may be little backstory as to the animals history (as that what rescue is, sometimes there’s literally no one to give history) but what information on each animal at the events was always shared when asked. Thank you for what you do for the feral cat population and for placing so many animals in the Yuma community Amber and other volunteers of Yuma Purr Project
Privilege to know these people (Amber& Dave). Please read reviews with the knowledge that negative feedback often isn’t the total story. Amber is busy, but always willing to help with small pets. Dedicated and hardworking couple.
I want to share my really bad experience with adopting a dog from Yuma Purr Project. When I got my dog at their Paws and Tails event, they didn't ask me to fill out any papers or ask about where I live. This felt really strange. The bigger problem was the dog wasn't fixed or had its shots, which is really important. Amber, who runs the place, told me she would get this done in a week and I just needed to call her. But when I tried to call, text, or email, I got no answer. I felt completely ignored. After waiting for months, I ended up paying for the dog's fixing and shots myself. This cost me a lot of money - another $500 on top of the $500 I already paid to adopt the dog. It was really hard for me to find this extra money. Also, I found out they blocked me from their Facebook page. That's probably why you don't see any bad reviews about them there. They just block anyone who says something bad. So, I'm really unhappy with Yuma Purr Project. They didn't do what they promised, and it cost me a lot of extra money. I think people should know this before they decide to adopt from them.
As an engaged member of our local community with a strong commitment to animal welfare, I feel it's important to share my observations about Yuma Purr Project. Their goal of rescuing animals is admirable, but there are areas in their operations that could benefit from improvement ALOT. One concern is the medical care provided to the animals. It appears that some pets from Yuma Purr Project may not have received key veterinary treatments like spaying/neutering or vaccinations prior to adoption. This can lead to health risks for the animals and unexpected expenses for adoptive families. I've also noticed that communication with the organization can be challenging. Responses to inquiries and requests for assistance are not always timely, which can be frustrating for those seeking information or help. Another aspect that could be reviewed is the organization's focus on rescuing animals from international locations, which might lead to less attention being given to local animals in need. Balancing global and local rescue efforts is crucial. The policy of allowing pets to be adopted as gifts is another area of concern. Ensuring that recipients are fully prepared for the responsibility of pet ownership is essential for the well-being of the animals. Finally, while it may seem minor, the professional presentation of the organization, including the attire of the owner, could be enhanced to better represent their noble mission. In summary, while I respect Yuma Purr Project's mission, I believe that improvements in veterinary care, communication, focus on local rescues, adoption policies, and overall professionalism would greatly benefit the organization and our community. For those looking to adopt, I encourage researching organizations that uphold high standards of animal care and ethical practices.
