LMAS serves as an authority in domestic animal welfare by creating and preserving a safe and humane community for both people and domesticated animals. LMAS strives to eliminate the euthanasia of adoptable animals in Louisville Metro through education, community engagement, enforcement and leadership efforts.

I can not thank LMAS enough! The employees are truly heaven sent. We adopted our puppy Kylo from animal house and we were so impressed with how clean and nice Animal House is. I was interested in fostering and Stephanie, Kristen and everyone else set me up with absolutely EVERYTHING I needed to foster two puppies that came into the shelter. It was such a great experience and my dog did so well with taking them under his wing. Once they got adopted we fostered another dog that we ended up adopting from them! The process is so quick and easy. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. I appreciate the hard work they do for our community.

First visit to the shelter since they closed the one close to usn it looks so phenomenal! The facilities are beautiful, the personnel are fantastic, and the whole experience was uplifting!! If you have extra pet food, or just want to give something to these animals that deserve to be loved, please make this a priority! Or, better yet, if you can make a little room for a new family member in your home adopt instead of buying!! It doesn't take a lot of time and effort to make all the difference to a soul that deserves love!!

I had to bring in a beautiful dog I found on Broadway. The take in process went pretty smooth on checking in the little girl. It was clean, and the people were friendly. Staff answered my questions and were informative.

I adopted the most wonderful, amazing sweet girl named Clarabelle. She is helping me so much to mend my broken heart after losing another precious pet. Clarabelle is adjusting to her forever home so well & we love her. My vet said she was gonna call her "Jackpot Clarabelle" for being adopted into our home. 😂

Very clean, well kept facility. The animals seem well cared for. The staff members are personable, informative, and extremely helpful. Andrea answered all of our questions, she genuinely wants their adoptees in good homes and made the process seamless!
