Description The mission of the Humane Society of Valdosta/Lowndes County (HSVLC) is to promote responsible pet ownership by teaching compassion, respect, and caring treatment for all animals. The HSVLC advocates the elimination of animal abuse, pet overpopulation, and homelessness among companion animals by promoting spaying and neutering of all pets, promoting adoptions, and by providing education and outreach to the community at large. We are a local non-profit animal welfare organization. HSVLC started in 1989 to be a voice for animals in our community. Our motto is “We speak for those who cannot speak for themselves” and it expresses our commitment to improve the lives of animals through rescue, education, and advocacy.
We had the absolute best experience with this location. My husband surprised me for my birthday last week by taking me to an adoption event they hosted at the local pet smart for a kitten adoption. Our little guy (originally Sony) now Obi is the perfect addition to our family and is just my best friend in the world, a total mama's boy. The event was wonderful getting to meet all the adoptable kittens, and everyone volunteering/working there was fantastic.
Their spay/neuter clinics are among the best that I have ever witnessed and run by very caring and efficient people. Highly recommend
Julie Greenhaw has been a true blessing. She informed me of the programs the Humane Society offered. I have had 5 feral female cats neutered. I will continue working the Humane Society and Julie on spaying and neutering more feral cats. The community needs to reach out to the Humane Society as well, and help stop the unwanted population of animals.
Hours are 9-2 so I was a bit disappointed when I arrived at 2:30. But, the ladies here are amazing and so helpful.
This place breaks my heart but they have a great program to stop feral cat colonys from getting out of hand. For a small fee they will loan you a catsafe trap to catch the cats if you can not catch them on your own. Then they spay or neuter the cat and tip its ear and return the cat to you to release it back into the same cat colony. This is the humane way to stop all the babies. I think it's a BRILLIANT IDEA if you have a lot of stray cats in your neighborhood. I just wanted to spread the word... This place is doing great things. Also they are in need of donation of cat food and litter (no dogs here). Please adopt your next furever friend from here and save a life
Was looking for a small dog they only seem to have large dogs the staff was very nice and the building was clean
