It is so tempting to get one or two of these beautiful animals at the Placer SPCA or any SPCA. The beautiful soles that are in need of a rightful home to be loved and taken care of, like they were your family members. Those eyes of sadness make me cry. One day... Bless these intelligent animals I took another trip to visit the dogs and cats. It breaks my heart that I cannot have a pet at this time. Look at these beautiful babies hoping to go home to a good family.
Extremely disappointing experience. Requiring an appointment at this point in COVID is absurd, but after identifying a potential companion I went ahead and played the game and made an 11:30 appointment to meet a dog named Princess Peach. Living on the direct opposite side of the county, I made a mistake by mis-managing my time by 15 minutes, so I called to let them know and ask if it was a problem. They said it wouldn't be a problem, but that I should know I would have to leave by 12 to accommodate the next appointment. What?? Time management was my responsibility, but cutting people short to socialize and view other potential adoptions is the lamest policy I've ever heard, especially for those who have filled out forms and scheduled appointments. Upon walking in, the place unsurprisingly as vacant as one would expect with such a ridiculous policy. After checking in, the volunteer that came to greet me (not an adoption counselor) says right in front of me, "Is this the late one?" Trying to shame me even though I was right on time of the updated ETA. With an arm full of towels, she dismissively says, "hang here while I take care of these", then walks away. When she gets back after a couple of minutes, she then asks with a haughty attitude whether I have my intake form (which was printed from home and given to the clerk). As we turned to walk down the empty hallway she then says, "Princess Peach is sweet but absolutely cannot interact with other dogs." Wait, what? Why wasn't that indicated in her description? Three steps down the hallway, and it was apparent my time was wasted. Nearly an hour drive each way, just to deal with an absurd subjugating policy and arrogant attitudes. With the fabricated time constraint, I couldn't even view other potential adoptions. Whoever is running this place should be investigated for embezzling or laundering, as the focus of this shelter is clearly NOT about bringing the public through their doors to find homes for the animals. Nobody wore masks either, so the ridiculous policy over COVID is nothing more than plain old gaslighting.
My girl is amazing. She is so well behaved and sweet and loves other dogs. She can be annoying to little dogs but she just wants to play. I was worried because SPCA said she was aggressive with other dogs but I think she just needed some conditioning. She is so wonderful.
I got my bunny from here. His name was peanut I changed it to Bunny bun buns. They are so nice there and helpful. It’s a very clean place too. I was just surprised I never got a call from them checking in to see how everything is going. I’m his 4th owner and he has been brought to that place 3 times. He’s very happy and he’ll never go back there. I would definitely go back there and recommend them.
This is by far the cleanest SPCA I’ve ever been to. The facility is very new with lots of space. There is glass windows everywhere so you can see all the animals. The staff is very helpful! This SPCA is very unique. Doctors have the capabilities to do some major surgeries here. They also have extra funding to do those surgeries. The facility is also equipped with some advanced medical devices. Check out their website they have pictures and videos of all the pets for adoption.
As a thrift store, these items are second hand and should be offered at a discount to those that could otherwise afford the items. The pricing that managers are using most likely involves them looking on sites like Google, Amazon, EBay, etc. These sites are for profit and items are usually a bit expensive for used items. Thrift stores originally were designed for needy people, but this store is treated as for profit and not to help the needy, poor, low income people and families. I recommend managing team evaluate their pricing method to consider these facts , as the items are donated by owners for free, with the intention to not only help the animals but also help those in need, and not to profit large amounts.
