This is my second review to attempt expressing my serious concern regarding the handling of a recent dog bite incident. I have hospital records documenting four bites that required my placement on a ventilator. Despite this, Animal Care and Control has not permitted me to press charges. Officer Moore informed me that aggressive behavior from a dog is not taken seriously, stating that a dog can be as aggressive as it wants in its own home. This raises significant safety concerns for the community. If this dog causes further harm, the responsibility will fall on the City of Lexington and the Animal Control facility. I urge anyone affected by this situation to request all relevant records to verify whether appropriate action has been taken. My experience indicates a troubling lack of accountability and concern for public safety from these agencies. Additionally, if you have been bitten by a German Shepherd in the Polo Club area of Lexington, please contact me via email. Without action, more people may be bitten, and the owners will likely continue to conceal the dog's behavior. Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.

I have only adopted one dog from L-FAC&C and that was 5 years ago. Every step in the process was fine. Any of the staff or volunteers that we encountered treated us very well. We were even given the option to take the dog home for a week to make sure that everything was a good fit for us! When we are ready to adopt again we’ll definitely start here! Highly recommend!

this animal control made my life a living hell. they euthanized my dog and told us AFTERWARDS even tho they said they were gonna just fix him. didn’t even give us his body back. yes they knew he was ours and the employees were some of the rudest people i’ve ever dealt with. they also had my cat for over a month, tried to give me a completely different cat that had been there a month before my cat even arrived and refused to tell me what happened. they wouldn’t let me verify that this cat was mine until yesterday, the day i got him back. the adoption team on the other hand were the nicest human beings, but animal control… like i said made my life a living hell for months. there’s a lot more they did but this is the main and now i feel like i can finally talk about it since i have my cat back. i refuse to let this place act like they love and care for animals because they simply don’t.

Great place to adopt some love! Do your research on the breed of dog your looking for. Prepare! Remember the 3-3-3 rule! 3 days to adjust to the home, 3 weeks to set a ROUTINE! 3 months the animal should be integrated within the household. A shelter animal is going through a lot from when they enter the shelter, have to adjust to a large population of other cats/dogs and strangers! Please, if you adopt and it just automatically doesn't work out, give the baby some time before you throw the towel in. Put yourself in the shoes of a dog that's been locked in a kennel for 2 months!? Now they are in a home that they have no idea where they are at. Research, research, research!Adopt love!

I am absolutely upset with this Animal Control. They will just take anyone’s word without properly investigating what is really going on. What a freaking shame! How about you go after the neglected dogs on the streets before taking an old, loved dog from her home and putting her in a scary, unfamiliar place? A dog who has dementia as well! I am absolutely disgusted with this place. Shame on you. And shame on the person who thought he was doing right without even asking questions.

I know these places are understaffed and underfunded but they have no concern for the health of the animals. They had my service dog for less than a week and he came home with 3 new abrasions and pneumonia. When I called to check on him they said they didn't even know he was there...not sure what is going on but they at least need new managers that care.
