Description KHS is not an animal shelter or pet rescue. KHS is a non-sheltering animal welfare agency that offers services and programs for pet owners and educators, volunteer opportunities for individuals and corporate partners. We also advocate for animals and participate in the legislative process to promote protection of animals. KHS is a regional non-profit serving all of southwest Michigan. While we do not have animals for adoption, we can help potential adopters find a rescue or shelter in the area.

Unfortunately last week we had to say goodbye to our sweet girl, and couldn’t afford the package that included her ashes. Then we got a phone call saying one of the staff had paid for our dogs ashes and when we picked them up, it came with a paw print, ashes, vial of her hair, and a nose print. I can’t express how thankful I am, this act of kindness means so much to me. This was such a loving gesture, and I am so grateful. I wish I got the employees name; if you see this, thank you so much! ❤️❤️
Incredibly kind and helpful staff. They have been a great resource for getting my neighborhood cat population under control. Would definitely recommend for spay/neuter as well as wellness visits.
Had a dog neutered here, that's not the issue. Got a cat from the cat distribution system and she was pregnant. I called in a panic because in 24 hours two babies had passed. The lady I spoke to called the Cat Cafe Kalamazoo, told her the situation and the lady said I could text her. I did. Was a long day of delayed texts. The owner of the cafe didn't offer guidance on bottle feeding nor offered any advice. She did ask two questions which were answered. I left a review explaining everything. I highly advise the humane society to not use this lady anymore as a resource. She isn't a vet (clearly) she's inept of being a human and has a God complex. Pay for advice is what I was told. Oh also they are apparently a rescue for cats (during the conversation never mentioned that, never mentioned money and knew who advised me to contact her). I believe she just wanted the cats. She blames others openly even when something is an accident or someone had a question or was seeking help. Don't assume the worst about someone just because they are asking for help. The owner openly did that. Feral kitten syndrome was more than likely the culprit here from what online resources have said. Knowing that now a vet visit and bill would not have saved these kittens. Abbey at cat cafe has decided to make a Facebook post about the situation. Due to this her followers are reporting falsely on my review and in turn making fake reviews for her. I sincerely hope no one ever at the humane society refers to cat cafe or Abbey again. Edit* Would have never have called that lady if whomever I spoke with suggested it. But hey, it's definitely worth noting right. Exactly. Regardless of an affiliation or not, my opinion and experience matters. I will stand by my review.
Very affordable prices and friendly staff. I would recommend this place to anyone with a pet. Got my dog spayed and three days later looked like she had an infection I called them right away and they said send pictures so they can evaluate it. They prescribed her antibiotics right away and reassured me that my dog would be fine and call back if I had further worries. She's all well and healed now.
Calling and getting an answer from a person is very hard, on top of that one of the Dr.s was very rude to me when approaching me about an issue, she was interrupting me and blaming me for not trying to contact this place when I had left a voicemail and then an email regarding me cats medicine just to receive a frustrating phone call where i was blamed on not trying to communicate. The service in person is very good, however over the phone is not.
I went there recently for the food bank. They were very nice and helpful. I received 2 large bags of cat food and 1 large bag of litter. When they were located on westnedge, I had all my cats spayed and neutered. They actually let me work inside the building to pay for the spaying and neutering. How awesome is that ! They rely on donations, so help an animal today and donate dog food, cat food, litter, treats and other items, which they can tell you further details about. I'm sure they take money donations also, which will help with other expenses. It's nice to have a place nearby to help our pets out when we can't.
