These photos were taken before Rob@ Raptorview Research Institute drove to Bozeman from Missoula to capture this young Osprey and remove the bailing twine. He then contacted the Montana Raptor Conservation Center (MRCC) in Bozeman to pick up the bird for some much-needed treatment. After some antibiotics and foot soaks the Osprey was banded with a metal band and was released back at the nest site. I'm thankful that the MRCC quickly picked up the Osprey and gave her the care she needed. A job well done by all involved.
The staff and volunteers at the Montana Raptor Conservation Center do an amazing job, not only of rescuing, rehabilitating, and reintroducing raptors to the wild, but also of educating the general public through onsite and outreach programs about the importance of raptors and how to protect this magnificent species.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!! It is so cool to learn about various raptors we have locally and it's amazing to see some of them up close. There are also excellent displays to learn from too. Their education program is excellent and the presenters are sweet, funny and really interact positively with kids in the audience. What moves me the most though is the care they offer their rescues. They are very protective of the birds so they can be released back into the wild when they have healed without being habituated to humans. The ones that can't be released become their ambassadors in the education program and the birds are handled with respect to their needs and comfort. My heart feels full every time I go there!
This is such a fantastic organization. The work they do with injured and sick birds of prey, with the goal of rehabilitating and releasing back to the wild, is truly invaluable. I'm so grateful to have MRCC part of our community doing such great work. They need donations, so please help them! Thank you!
I love the Montana Raptor Conservation Center! I never knew that there was a place to take these beautiful creatures when they are injured. Every person that works and/or volunteers at the Center loves these birds. It takes a lot of money to help these wonderful people take care of all the raptors so please give money.
