Description "We are a dedicated to making Polk County no kill."
Polk County Bully Project: A Lifesaving Non-Profit Polk County Bully Project has one of the most admirable missions I’ve come across. They go above and beyond to help bulldogs and other dogs in need, especially those at risk of being euthanized at Polk County Animal Control. This organization rescues these dogs, giving them a second chance at life, and works tirelessly to find them forever homes. If a dog doesn’t find a home, they ensure it receives the care and love it deserves. It’s inspiring to witness the dedication and compassion this team demonstrates every day. I first learned about the Polk County Bully Project through their annual 5K runs, which I began attending three or four years ago. My husband and I love participating, especially since we have a little dog of our own. The event, “Run for the Boo-lies,” features a fun Halloween twist. Participants dress up their dogs in costumes, and all proceeds go directly to the organization. The 5K takes place at Lake Hollingsworth, a beautiful three-mile loop. Before the race, they host a Halloween costume contest and offer prizes, raffles, water, and medals. Afterward, you even receive a free ticket for a beer at a nearby bar, creating a great opportunity to socialize with fellow participants. It’s always a fantastic event, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves dogs and wants to support a great cause. One of my most touching experiences with the Polk County Bully Project occurred when they helped me with a stray dog I found. My husband and I discovered the dog behind a Golden Corral in North Lakeland, clearly abandoned. We called around to various shelters, but they were all full, including Polk County Bully Project. However, even though they couldn’t take the dog in right away, they went above and beyond to assist us. They provided dog food, a rabies shot (at no charge), and even gave us some CBD oil to help the dog stay calm. They also supplied a kennel, bowls, and toys to make the dog comfortable while we waited for space to open up at the shelter. After a few days, we started bonding with him and named him Charcoal. He fit right into our family. When a kennel became available, Polk County Animal Control took him in to check for a previous owner. Although it was bittersweet to see him go, I was able to visit him at the shelter. The staff took great care of him, and after a week of waiting to see if anyone would claim him, PCBP put a hold on him to ensure he wouldn’t be euthanized. We then decided to place a citizen hold on him and adopt him ourselves. The love and care that Polk County Bully Project extends to every dog is truly remarkable. They never turn a dog away and will even use their own bathrooms to house animals when necessary. This non-profit relies entirely on donations and volunteers, so every bit of help counts. Whether you can donate money, supplies, or your time, it all makes a difference. I personally volunteer by helping with tasks like washing dog bowls, doing laundry, and gathering donations from my neighborhood. If you’re looking to support an amazing organization, the Polk County Bully Project is the perfect place to start. They are truly angels for these animals, giving them hope and a brighter future.
What a wonderful establishment that cares for the well being of animals in the midst of human cruelty. We praise their efforts and Christ Jesus will honor their sacrifice to the lesser species. God Bless these laborers . We adopted Israel formerly known as Louise..
There is no rescue that cares more or provides as much live and comfort as this rescue. All the dogs are walked at least 2 times they have tons of toys for the dogs that they can actually keep in their kennels and they have real bedding with blankets to keep them cozy rather than just cots or hard floors. Couldn't ask more of a rescue than what they provide. It's simply wonderful
PCBP is a group of hardworking, dedicated and compassionate people working tirelessly to rescue and rehome bully dogs. This small, non-profit organization does an amazing job saving the lives of many. They are always in need of some type of support (donations, laundry, dog walking, cleaning, fostering and of course adoption). I personally have volunteered, fostered and adopted over the years. PCBP is truly a blessing!
This rescue pulls dogs from Animal Control that would otherwise be euthanized! They rely solely on donations. I fostered (and eventually adopted Macey Gray) and currently volunteer there. The staff and volunteers do amazing things. If you have a few hours to donate a month, they would love to have you as a volunteer. If you can't foster or volunteer, you can take a dog out for an outing. A few hours away from the rescue can be wonderful for the dogs! They also have an Amazon wishlist. Check their website or Facebook for the link to their list or other ways to donate. They can't do it without all of us!
When filling out the adoption form I was a little worried that I would have to jump through so many hoops to adopt a dog. There were so many questions and references needed. I was shocked that my application was approved same day. We met our top pick the next morning and brought her home the same day. She is shy and getting used to her new home, but she is super cuddly. I have talked to Angie on their Facebook page a few times, Ami helped us set up the meet and greet through text, and Pippy was there to introduce us to Alexa (now Aelin). We love the PCBP, and look forward to supporting them and their pups in the future <3
