It smells like a kennel, which is to be expected. Several of the animals were "not yet available". But we did choose 2 terrific dogs, one 5 years ago and the second about a month ago. Love our fur babies.

I thank the staff for their empathetic and non-judgmental ways. The facility is clean and from what I saw, the animals are well taken care of in the kennels. Affordable.

Thanks to someone (employer or volunteer) posting weekly the new arrivals I may have never have found my Roxy. She had been stolen back at Thanksgiving time. I watched so many face book groups that waiting hoping that she would be her hyper self and escape. I had almost given up on ever finding her and then there she was. A little rough around the edges and alot worn out from her adventures. And now safe a sound back home .as for who stole her and dumped her? Who knows but shame on you! What's meant to be will be. For us and you. Thank you and God bless to all who had a hand in her safe return from both me and Roxy! Wags, to Abilene Animal Shelter, THANK YOU THANK YOU SHE MEANS SO MUCH TO ME !

I worked here for 7 months and have experience as a citizen too. The employees pour their heart and soul into their work. Jackie and Justin are phenomenal leaders and the kennel techs work extremely hard (even if they seem a little rough around the edges.) Having seen a change in leadership, adversity from the public, and every heartbreaking situation you can think of, I watched the staff grow under pressure and despite no longer being a part of behind the scences, I've seen them continue to adapt and grow since I left. If you're looking to adopt a pet, this is the place to do it. The staff will do their best to help match you with a pet for you and the adoption fees are extremely affordable. There are tons of loving animals waiting for homes. The adoption process is easy to understand and comprehensive. The animals are given their first round of vaccines and dewormer, and microchipped in case they get lost. I personally have adopted a number of times and have a household full of amazing animals (two of whom are now service dogs.)Opening my home to these animals is the best decision I've ever made.

The ladies are very sweet. Unfortunately they don't have enough room to save them all, but they try their best to do so.

People here are really hard workers ... very nice people I've adopted several cats and adopted off a couple dogs were too big for us .😳 ..I just wished they had a new bigger place..... it's been there since I was a kid ... I'm 49 so it's probably older than me ....but a great place to adopted for sure
