They try their best with the animals. I got my dog Bingo from here, formerly Biggum. He took some time to get used to his new home but has settled in nicely. They showed him nothing but love while he was there. They were very eager to let us have the bonding room with him which was full of toys and game us ample time together.

Such a warm welcome to the wonderful Cumberland County. I just recently moved here from Colorado. On 10/10/24 I was outside with my dog setting up an in-ground invisible fence. I'm assuming it wasn't set up right because she wandered off and got lost since she doesn't know the area yet. I was driving around looking for her and I got a call from an animal control officer at 1:57 PM. As soon as I heard the voicemail I called him back and headed to their facility. I arrived there at 2:52 PM. Not even an hour after she arrived there. The staff was deceptive all the way up until they informed me my dog could not be released to me until she was spayed. I explained to them she was at the vet YESTERDAY (10/9) where I got an estimate for the spay and set it up for later on carecredit. They did not care. I asked if they were going to do bloodwork first. Nope. I asked if she would be given pain medication. Nope. Those are extra. Pain control isn't standard but your main focus is animal well-being? And they couldn't do the surgery until Tuesday. So a Belgian Malinois is expected to sit in a tiny metal cage for 5 days? After going back and forth they finally determine she can have surgery and be returned to me today (10/11). My dog is being held hostage and I am being extorted due to an unconstitutional ordinance that prevents me from taking my dog to my vet for her planned spay. I was forced to sign contracts and pay them under duress. This should be a "fix it ticket". As in requiring the dog to be fixed within a certain amount of time at a vet of your choosing. Not detaining and operating on animals forcefully and recklessly. This is not some stray mutt. This is a very well-bred, well-trained and well-loved dog. I get home and look over the paperwork only to discover that in the ONE HOUR they had her they went into hysterics and double vaccinated and double medicated her. My dog was vaccinated, given wormer and flea medication on 9/17 and 10/9 by her regular vet. If the staff here wasn't so incompetent and miserable they would have called the number to her vet listed on the microchip and they would have been told she was vaccinated and medicated YESTERDAY. The same microchip they scanned to get my number. They could have asked ME when i returned their call minutes later. They're just lazy and do not care. Now she has been overdosed on medication and at risk of adverse side affects, stressed being confined and going under general anesthesia all in 48 hours. They do NOT care about animals well being. They care only for their holier-than-thou egos. This is healthcare? Reckless. Incompetent. And disgusting. While dealing with this one of the employees is excitedly asking me what commands my dog knows like he intends to play with a working dog?? So then when she bites someone while you all are messing around with her then you can deem her dangerous and put her down?? And to top it off they told me that an invisible fence is not a good idea because since it isn't a physical fence that an animal control officer can see they can come onto your property and drag your dog out and haul them off. Your job is animal control and you cannot identify an invisible fence collar??? Or hear it beeping and shocking a dog as you drag it out of range??? Again, incompetence! It's dangerous to sneak onto private property to abduct someones dog. Now I see why all my neighbors dogs are permanently chained to trees in the backyard.

They are having FREE adoptions along with free spay and neutered if they aren't already! They are very overcrowded and needing people to come and adopt one of the sweet loving animals at the shelter! Dont breed or shop; ADOPT!!!! 3 cats on the property i moved to all had kittens within a month of one another. On top of 4 or 5 grown cats already. So the number has tripled! One of the youngest kittens got real sick when he couldn't pass his poop. Feces got stuck on and around his bottom and he was so miserable so, i took him up to animal control to see if they could help him. They told me maggots were now in and around his bottom as well. 😢 they said they would need to keep him so they could treat him. I called everyday to see what happened with him. They said they were able to give him a bath, shave his bottom, and give him medicine to help clear up everything. I asked if i could bring him back home, they said yes but if i wanted to come to get him now i would need to continue to administer his medicine or i could leave him there and they could. I said "ill do it." When i got there, they gave me the rest of his medicine, showed me how to give it to him and they even microchip him! He was too young to get his rabies shot and neutered but, they set me up appointments for both! They really went above and beyond to help my little baby kitten and sent me home with the kitten food they were feeding him as well! Which was dr. Hills science diet which is not cheap! I would recommend anyone to come here to adopt an animal and not breed or shop for a baby puppy or kitten! They have baby animals as well but the ones that really need saving are the older animals that have been abandoned or given up on. They make sure when you adopt an animal that you will have everything you need to help make the animal's life better. THEY ALSO ARE TAKING DONATIONS AS WELL! NOT JUST MONEY BUT THINGS LIKE LEASHES, COLLARS, TRASH BAGS, LITTER, DOG/CAT TOYS!! I put a picture of my Grayboi who i took down there and they made him all better! I also included a picture of things they are needing as donations!

We adopted this beautiful girl ‘Toula’ Renamed Daisy on 7/3/24 from Cumberland county animal shelter, she’s been a wonderful addition to our family! When we adopted her, we received info about her appointment for her to be fixed. She was also microchipped and vaccinated. We only paid $70 and it was SO worth it. It was such an easy process and the folks who work at the shelter are some of the kindest and most caring people. We have learned Daisy is a Siamese Sealpoint and she is one of the most affectionate cat I’ve had to date. It was truly a match in heaven for our family. We are beyond satisfied! Thank you so much CCAS!❤️❤️🐱

I have never been to an animal shelter center before and it was my first time going and I love it so much that I seen a kitten that chose me and made me wanted to cry. This is the kitten that came walking towards me and chose me.
