A men's and women's shelter on S. Tacoma Way. They have a recovery program, showers, a clothing bank on wed at 1pm, they serve breakfast and dinner too. There's a Bible Study w/ Tony on Monday at dinnertime. Churches often come by on the weekend to share the gospel and provide charity. They have a donation warehouse, a cold shelter during the winter, and plenty of volunteering opportunities too. Living Grace Church is right down the street too, and they serve hot food with living water on Thursdays. *Note, you will be around drug users, ex-convicts, crazy people, and angry depressed people...and normal people who God sent there for his own purposes. However, do not lean to your own understanding. Trust in God. If you keep your eyes to The Lord and acknowledge him, he will direct your path(s). Proverbs 3:5-7
Just did a walk-through here to see the facility. Headed to tell it is amazing to see what all is accomplished. They have programs for people looking to get into a new way of life. Breakfast luncheon dinner are served here and I cannot believe how much compassion the volunteers and staff here show every day. Truly a remarkable place
Volunteered in kitchen last week. Enjoyed the time with a few other volunteers. People receiving food seemed grateful. There was supposed to be about a dozen more volunteers but they did not show up.
Don't listen to the bad reviews. This place is what you make it. Absolutely great counselors. Alex saved my life and in two months I was on my way out with a Life better than I could have imagined. Stay away from the drugs and this place is killer. It's clean and the food is...ok lol Whatever this place is rad and Way better than outside.
There is something wrong with these people. Staff are discriminatory, the food is unhealthy. You will be living with illegal immigrants, felons, sexual predators, predators and the mentally ill. Most people there are there for the rest of their lives. Staff is only there as a supervisory channel and nothing you report or say makes it to anyone with any real authority. Any medical emergency is met with anger and frustration from the emt and fire department, as they are tired of the daily ritual of driving up there. Abandon all hope, truly a place for the sickest or our society. It's Tacoma so no one really cares.
