Description Pacific Northwest Aquatics and Exotics Rescue provides care for sick, neglected, or unwanted fish, reptiles, and other exotic animals. They offer educational programs and host reptile-themed birthday parties for children, making them a valuable resource for the community.
We met a compassionate and kind group of humans who shared their love of all creatures with us. We learned so much from them and had an incredible time! Thanks for bringing added joy to our kiddo’s birthday celebration!!
After the bomb cyclone ravaged Issaquah, we were left without electricity for multiple days, our car's back windshield shattered, and the front windshield cracked by falling tree limbs. With two snakes, a Pacman frog, a crested gecko, and a very fat bearded dragon to care for, we had no choice but to seek refuge in a hotel in Tacoma. Without the proper UVB lighting and limited heating options for our reptiles, combined with staying in a hotel room with four cats, we were incredibly relieved when PNAER opened its doors to board our cold-blooded companions for FREE during the power outage. They cared for our creatures exceptionally well while we were at the hotel and allowed us to visit them during their stay, as the hotel was only ten minutes away. When we came to pick up our beloved pets after regaining power, we received help loading them back into their tote and were delightedly informed that they had spent time socializing with our pets during their stay. We are unbelievably grateful for the kindness and generosity shown by PNAER during this disaster. Observing their impressive facility, I saw many happy exotics either recovering from sickness or waiting for their new homes. The incredible work they do is truly inspiring. A special thank you to the two amazing women who lead this organization. Along with this review, I will be donating to this rescue, as they are a vital part of our community. We need more rescues and people like them. Thank you for allowing us peace of mind while we get back on our feet!
Adopted my ball python, Curly from them yesterday 1/13/24 and I can’t say enough good things about this place. The animals are all so loved by all the staff & everyone is incredibly knowledgeable and kind. They deeply care about their animals and ensure the best care possible, all while ensuring that they are able to continue to help even after animals are adopted. Definitely will be coming back for anything I need! Highly recommend
These people are cruel. I don't know how they manage their animals, but they treat humans with callous contempt. I was in a crisis situation and needed to surrender a beloved pet snake I'd kept for over a decade. Their online surrender form asks to "please allow 3-5 days for a response from our team". I never received a response at all. The form also states, "if it is an emergency please call us at" with a phone number. As my situation was an emergency, I called in the afternoon and left a voicemail, then called again that evening and reached someone. She was not kind, and used a shaming, impatient tone while I begged for help. She told me with annoyance that they had just gotten back from a show, but said she would arrange a truck and call me back. She never called me back. I waited, suffering, hoping for the help that was promised. No call came. I called twice the next day and both calls were manually shunted to voicemail. (You can tell from the number of rings before VM.) I left another voicemail, sobbing, which was never returned. All she had to say was "I'm sorry, we're at capacity and cannot help. I wish you the best." She didn't have to shame me for the situation, and she certainly didn't have to make promises on the phone or on their website about help being available. Lying to someone in crisis will only make that person feel worse. I regret asking PNAER for assistance, I regret being vulnerable on the surrender form, and I even regret the need to write this review, but I thought others should be aware of the type of people they're dealing with when they contact this business. I expect that any response to this review will be equally cruel; perhaps they'll even try to doxx the private information I shared with them while in crisis. They've proven - too late for me - that they cannot be trusted. Please be cautious when you ask for help in your most dire circumstances. Not everyone is kind. Some will actively make you feel worse, even at your lowest.
Well every time I have been there it's been clean and friendly people running it. They could always use more people to help for those that don't know. Caring for a reptiles is hard work even just one.
My recent encounter with Pacific Northwest Aquatics and Exotics Rescue has been nothing short of amazing! I had the pleasure of meeting them at a Reptile Expo, where they went above and beyond to assist us with our Tegu. The highlight of our interaction was the custom paracord harness they crafted for our Tegu, showcasing their exceptional skills and commitment to animal welfare. The team at Pacific Northwest Aquatics and Exotics Rescue not only demonstrated their expertise in reptile care but also took the time to educate us on various animals. Their passion for these creatures is truly inspiring, and it reflects in the level of care and attention they provide. Visiting their rescue facility was a delightful experience, as the staff took the time to share valuable insights about the diverse range of animals under their care. The dedication to education sets them apart, making it clear that their mission goes beyond rescue – it extends to fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the incredible world of aquatics and exotics. I highly recommend Pacific Northwest Aquatics and Exotics Rescue to anyone passionate about responsible pet ownership and the well-being of unique animal companions. Their kindness, knowledge, and commitment to education make them an invaluable resource for both novice and experienced enthusiasts. Thank you, Pacific Northwest Aquatics and Exotics Rescue, for your exceptional service and for being true advocates for our scaly friends!
