Description Each year, thousands of pets in our community receive care at HSSW. We provide shelter to lost and stray pets, a refuge from abuse and neglect, essential medical care, and a second chance for a happy home. And our commitment to the pets and people of Southwest Washington extends beyond the shelter, providing critical support to pets and families with Wellness Clinics, pet food assistance, spay/neuter, emergency boarding, financial assistance, and other programs that help keep families together.

Took my cat Mater in to get him fixed, some shots and a chip. Everyone there was just great. They communicated great when it came to aftercare. They treated him like he was there own cat. They do a great service to our community. I highly recommend them.

We love just about everything about the SW Washington Humane Society. It's clean, it's well managed, they do upgrades as they can afford them, and they make a good balance between efficiency of adoption process and putting effort into appropriate placements. They have a section for found animals and owner surrenders. They have volunteer programs for socializing and exercising animals. Their adoption fees are more than reasonable considering the amount of medical care they give the animals prior to adoption. And they maintain an up to date website with general information and specific animal information... Despite their high turnover of animals. The only thing I don't like is when I'm helped by one of the volunteers/employees who don't have great people skills and who sometimes tell me what I should or shouldn't do without accuracy... Assuming things about me and my household. I figure that's not a real problem, though, since they're motivated by protecting the animals in their care and it's mixed with good insight and advice. We've gotten all our dogs and cats here over the years and we love supporting this community service. No pictures of the dog kennels today... It was a cat day for us!

I went on a "no adoption fees" weekend. I always let the kitty choose me. The one for me was Lyra, a 3 yo female. She was listed as "Staff only", which meant I had to interview with the vet to make sure we would be a good fit. The staff was amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and so supportive. Lyra has been a fantastic addition to our home, and the dogs know exactly who they bow to. LoL.
