My tortoise sustained some injuries yesterday and after a quick Google search, I brought him here. They saw him the same day, which I appreciated. His injuries weren’t serious, thankfully. They presented me with ~$650-$750 worth of treatment options for the visit. I spent a little time trying to figure out what was necessary vs what wasn’t with the vet tech. This tortoise is a part of our family, but we don’t have money to throw away on expensive, unnecessary treatments. In the end, I walked out with a care plan for the guy, three prescription medications and $450 in charges. One of the prescriptions was for an ointment. It was $62. I specifically asked if that one would be worth filling somewhere else (maybe I’d save a few $$), and was told I would have a hard time finding it. I figured it’d be worth a few bucks in convenience to walk out the door with it. Anyway, once I was home I ended up looking up the medication and doing some research. That ointment was available to purchase from Chewy for $4.20! Yep, the exact same thing. And it also seems like a triple antibiotic ointment would also suffice. I was generally put off by all of the unnecessary treatments I was offered. I get that they’re running a business, but I felt a little taken advantage of and won’t return as I’m just not sure I’m the type of customer they want to keep around. They also couldn’t accept a return on that medication. I guess they can’t legally accept returns on prescriptions, but maybe they could do something? I’ve been with the same vet for my dogs for 10+ years and drive them over an hour to visit that office (we moved a few years ago). Maybe this is just the typical vet business these days… At least our tortoise will be okay!

We brought our two cockatoos in for a visit at AZ Exotic Animal Hospital in Phoenix. Avian veterinarian Taylor Lewis is extremely professional and knowledgeable. Handling Cockatoos can be daunting but her confidence and calm demeanor helped ease their anxiety. She gave us detailed instructions and advice and even responded right away to a follow up email I sent her. The receptionists are also great. Very friendly and helpful. This is the best location to bring your exotic birds.

Great staff and great service. Upfront pricing and plain talk language so there was no confusion on what was expected and the cost associated with it. I take my ~50 year old tortoise there and have an exceptional experience every time.

If you have pocket pets or smaller animals I highly recommend!! I have 5 domestic rats and also had a hamster go to this vet in the past! The staff is friendly, the vets were extremely trustworthy, and I had an amazing experience here. I trust the staff with my small pets and have faith in their word. Unfortunately, I've had many bad experiences with vets in the past, so I was weary trusting a new office. But I'm happy I found this lovely company! I plan to continue going here for all my exotic pets.

Wonderful clinic, friendly and a warm atmosphere Dr Lewis and her assistant were so nice to me and did a really thorough exam on my cockatiel "Spooky" it was my first time but now I will always bring my birds here Thank you all so much
