Hi, I have been visiting your thrift for a few years now but lately I can't help notice the drastic price hikes. I hadn't visited in weeks when I went in the other day. I see sweaters priced well over thirty dollars. No brand nothing just a nappy used sweater. And as I look I see all prices are ridiculously high. I have been told it is in order to help the horses. That's great but what this business doesn't realize is the gap between donations and buyers. The buyer doesn't have money to buy new or they would. I'm speaking strictly clothing and personal items. I never thought I would be priced out of the neighborhood thrift but I am I don't know if management has realized that the same stuff has been sitting on the racks not selling because the prices are so high. I honestly don't understand. There is so much in this world that we can use to do good with but here I think management has lost sight of a wonderful opportunity to do the people of Santa Fe a good deed by keeping some prices down. But I really think management is trying to keep the lower classes out of their precious thrift. Sad! I hope they rethink the way they do pricing. Especially when I see used Walmart products priced higher then Walmart sells new. The clerks are always nice and helpful!!!
This store is well organized and items are nicely displayed, but their prices are significantly higher than similar stores. A well-worn pair of hiking boots was $75, ceramic bowls $30+, women's clothing $15+ for lower-end brands. I understand it benefits charity, but at 2/3 of what I can buy things for new, I will buy new.
They have some good stuff but very pricey. I know it goes to a good cause (at least I hope it does, anyway) but if items were half the price as currently they are I think that'd be more than sufficient.
Let me start off by saying that I do love this place and that I try to stop by whenever I am able to. The employees have been lovely and I usually don’t leave empty handed. I stopped in today and the two employees were doing a bit of complaining about work and whatnot, and that’s fine, but then a family of maskless people came in and they weren’t asked to be masked at all. I was on my way out already anyway but it didn’t sit well. I noticed the door still had an outdated sign saying that it wasn’t required of vaccinated patrons to wear a mask. I understand that it’s mildly inconvenient to wear a mask, but the pandemic is NOT over, even for the vaccinated. We can all still get sick and spread this illness. I’d love to continue shopping here, but I just don’t love what I saw today.
I would say it’s worthy stopping in if you’re in the area. Prices are all over the place...you might get lucky but I found it to be overpriced. I only found 4 items from the $1 bins. The workers didn’t have the best customer service. They also changed the price of a pair of earrings I found from $1 to $5. I feel they could have honored the price or at least met in the middle and dealt with worker issues later.
Unique things, good value. Wonderful employees. Half the fun is looking. This trip I found a new pair of jeans, a collector's Monopoly game, a nice cool top, a hand held grill cheese sandwich melter for top of the stove use! All 20% off for Father's Day and to benefit the horse shelter. See what I mean?
