Let me be the one to say I've absolutely always had a great experience with animal control, even if it was called on me 🤣. Not only have the officers been so understanding, but extremely compassionate! Last month my dog was brutally injured by my neighbors dog & Officer Ray literally did everything in his power to help. I was so lost that day & his compassion & empathy alone meant so much on top of trying to save my dog. The odds weren't in good favor for my dog, but I still really appreciate Officer Ray!!! I've also dealt with Officer Cain previously & was a pleasure to work with!
The city has offloaded animal control to communities, especially ones that need help the most. I’m an animal lover and since the pandemic, my neighborhood’s feral cat population has exploded. I’ve adopted a cat myself and found homes for several others, but I cannot stay in front of the growing population. It is unreasonable for the city to expect its constituents to be able to effectively manage stray and feral cats and dogs. In my experience, it’s extremely difficult to safely and consistently trap these animals, schedule the neuter/spay and then release them back to the community—which is often cruel given the lack of shelters and support. This is not to mention that most times I’ve asked for vouchers from Richland, I have not received them. For me and my family, managing the feral colony problem with no municipal help has cost us dearly in terms of our time and finances. And when we get to a breaking point, we’re left with watching these poor animals suffer and fend for themselves. I’m sure that TNR, as it’s been implemented by the city, is no more humane than euthenization based on my observations. If we don’t help these cats ourselves with the very limited resources, time and money that we do have—then we’re left to watch them waste away and suffer as they struggle to survive on their own. As an animal lover and tax payer, I’m extremely disappointed in the level of support that has been offered by the city and its affiliated shelters. I get that everyone means well, but problems like this require effective policies and resourcing. This “pass the buck” approach, where the burden and responsibility of animal control is left to the community is WRONG and as a result, both the animals and communities suffer—especially those who are in need the most.
Very nice and friendly staff workers, wants to actually talk with you and not just hurry you out the building. The building, on the other hand, can stand to have more signs on where to go, spent 5 minutes prior to someone pointing me in the right direction.
This place is absolutely useless, I called about the same issue Im having in 2024 back in summer of 2023. Each time no one came out and the dogs continue to terrorize my neighborhood. The lady at the other end of the phone is absolutely aloof, and lackadaisical to say the least.
This place is horrifying!!! Dumping poor dogs in dumpsters by the cart full!! They need to be shut down, gave no clue what they are doing!!!! The conditions are absolutely disgusting!!! Why is this place still open???? Why isn’t the state and county doing anything??? Where is Animal control ?? How do y’all sleep at night???? You all should be one hundred percent ashamed of yourselves!!!!! You should be in a cage and never let out!!!! Disgrace to the human race!!!
Person I spoke to seemed to have no empathy for a deer that was trapped in my backyard. I had no idea what to do to help it and her only suggestion was to call back if it was still there tomorrow!!! I'm just glad it wasn't a bear or some other potentially dangerous animal.
