Absolutely no help. I called about 10 dogs chained up on James Island after tropical storm Debbie. I have no idea if an officer went out there yesterday or not, but when I called today for a check in the lady on the phone told me, "Animal control is not in service today." I pushed and asked why - she said "I don't know, I can't answer that." What good is animal control??? Why even have it if they won't do anything??? See photo attached of one of the 10 dogs after the storm. No idea how long she had been tangled like this.

To all these good samaritans trying to help by leaving heartbreaking photos of dogs chained up outside in 100 degree weather with no water or food, PLEASE ADD these horrible peoples addresses or cross streets, specify a location, take a photo of their house, etc. Random people will step in and help like myself to rescue these poor animals if no one else who’s actually paid to do so will. This is animal abuse! Expose these nasty dirt bags. Shame on any neighbor who sits back and allows this. You’re just as trashy.

Five different people in the same neighborhood left online complaints of a poor puppy being tied to a tree with a 3 ft lead in 100 degree heat with no food and water for hours. The neighbors brought her water and the owner freaked out. Now she keeps them day and night in a hot shed outside. No animal control showed up to investigate. Nobody called us back. Those poor dogs are being abused. Photos are from the day it was over 100 heat index. The poor pup wanted so badly to get into the shade of the house but couldn’t.second photo was showing that she had been there from morning to evening.

I found two litters of feral kittens on my property and put in an online request for trapping. Within the day, an officer called me to discuss my request and by the next day she had been to my street and caught all the cats. I'm so grateful to Officer Plachcinski for her help and care for these animals. She was quick, communicative, and so helpful! Because of her, these kittens have a chance to be adopted into loving homes.

THEY ARE NOT OPEN 24 HRS!!!!! I don't care what you say, no one in charleston gives a shit about lost animals I have been calling for the last 20 minutes to assist with a lost dog in my neighborhood. I have a 450 Sq ft apartment and am willing to house the dog here until we find him a home. Mind you we have 2 other dogs. I am livid. These guys suck

I do alot to help animals. I ask for help with a cat that is lost or abandoned and I have to catch it myself. Maybe even have to transport it to Charleston Animal Society myself from James Island. These pet cats left to fend for themselves is disheartening and I am pretty sure against the law. I already spotted the cat and observed it while building trust so I could take a photo of tag. Took weeks of my time. While I have a sickly cat living on my porch. I call the microchip company myself hoping to reunite pet cat with its owner. Owner information is private, but contact Charleston Animal Society as cat originated from them. I do so with a return call from CAS saying yes microchip number comes back to CAS, if I can bring the cat in. I try trapping cat myself and with the rain I would stop. I continued looking after kitty to keep her here to continue trying to catch her. Contact City of Charleston Animal Services Department after I am having no luck catching kitty to return to CAS so kitty can have a great home. Officer tried one day and now it is back on me. I willingly checked the Animal Services traps every hour on the hour in case kitty was ready for transport and I would immediately call Officer. I understand how busy Officers are. However, I and any Animal in need deserves the help too. If I have a concern for the elderly pet cat living on my front porch I have to go to Court. *Still no help, as of August 13, 2024. A cat limping and in need of help and an Officer will not respond. I will transport cat myself to Charleston Animal Society. It is a domestic animal in need of help and it is during shift hours, and I already have the Animal safely contained. All an Officer has to do is transport. When will this get better????
