I would give them a minus 200 rating if I could. I called them because I found an injured 4-5 week old kitten. And they basically said "sorry we are full, no I don't know who can help it, and unfortunately just let it die." The lady was very nice about it. I ended up calling the animal control and they came and got the kitty.
Make an appointment to find you special kitty. This place is amazing, clean, places for kitties to go safely outdoors, plenty of toys, beds, play places. Have a seat, you will be covered in kitties, walk around and pat the purring kitties, pick one or more that will fit in your home!
As someone that gets to talk and work with the people that run this place on a weekly basis I can not begin to say how much these people care about what they do. I would highly recommend considering coming for a day to see the staff in action and to see how much effort goes into maintaining a place like that, and of course to see the cats.
My husband and I, and then my dad, adopted our cats from Cat People. The cats were very skittish and shy at first. Now, in our loving homes, they have become regular loving, cuddly and funny cats. Don't give up on them! My cat is hilarious and loyal, and my dad always says that while people think he saved Sophie, Sophie really saved him.
We got two fabulous felines a year ago! Its a great organization.
All of these places say they are committed to helping the cats and their owners of Kern County find good homes. But not one single place had room for a sweet rescued cat that I'm unable to keep. Offering donations/cat food doesn't help and the response is the same everywhere. Just because the animal is socialized and neutered/spayed, doesn't mean I can keep another animal in my house.
