I am very disappointed with this shelter. Me and my wife were there and tried to adopt a dog that we loved after playing with him in the yard, and after being told initially that the dog was eligible for adoption. After trying to adopt him, however, the staff told us that they made a mistake and that the dog was very sick and needed to be examined by a vet which wouldn't happen until the next week, and couldn't be adopted. They gave us the impression that he would be put down, because he was so ill. I even volunteered to sign a medical waiver to adopt him, but was told there were no medical staff there that weekend to allow it. Determined to do everything we could to try to adopt this dog, me and my wife sent emails and left voice mails Saturday afternoon (after our visit) about doing everything we could to adopt him, even paying up front, and if the dog was still too sick to adopt, then I said the money could be used as a donation. My wife then called the shelter this morning (Monday) to check and let them know we were willing to do everything we could for the dog, and was told the dog was adopted Sunday (1 DAY AFTER WE WERE TOLD IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM TO BE ADOPTED). I'm glad the dog wasn't put to sleep, but now I know the type of unprofessional people who work at this shelter. They should be shut down. Never will go back.

I have nothing against animal control or the shelter. they are overcrowded and doing with what they have. I adopted puppy on friday the 25 of october. the puppy was taken in on 10/15. this puppy was spayed oct 24, but received no vaccines the entire time she was there. we had one week-end with her, monday the 29th a local vet euthanised her, she had distemper. animal control takes in many animals so she could have possibly had it when she came in, however after reading and talking to vet there is around a 14 day period from first exposure. from time she was there until her death was 13 days. my concern was that she sat there exposed to others, put through microchipping, and a spay-a lot for 3 month old puppy, and application of front line......the first rounds of shots would have been cheaper than putting her through all that and possibly could have saved her life. I called shelter and left my name number, puppy's information, and brief description of what happened. I received no call and the others around her are still up for adoption. I haven't been able to talk to anyone so I don't know if her shots were overlooked or if they just don't give them. I did read in papers from adoption that the cats are not tested for the common feline diseases. how can the welfare of animals be put first if the animals arent receiving testing and vaccines? how many more animals will die or spread disease? there was also a lady in vet office who runs a rescue, she asked immediately where I got puppy I told her and according to her there had been 4 others with distemper from same shelter that day at other local vets. I will adopt again, I always have, but I don't understand why any shelter would hold a puppy for ten days without vaccinating. shelter was clean, animals were being fed, but for puppies I feel the vaccines should have been 1st priority. the spay and microchip could have came upon or after adoption. our sweet little puppy went through major surgery for nothing. every animal deserves loving home and my suggestion if you adopt from this shelter ask if the dog or puppy has been vaccinated. no one should have to have a puppy put to sleep over something that could have possibly been avoided with simple vaccine.

There is a crazy, dark long haired woman who claims she is the head of animal control, and goes to resturaunts and stalks diners who like to travel with their pets, and despite the diners driving cars wigth their numbers on the cars in big bold letters she throws her weight by calling animal control then yelling at the top of her voice at to how powerful she is in the animal control, her side kick Leslie tries to dissuade her from stalking people but this woman is relentless, abusive and a freak, and it is a sad day that the likes of her deal with animals, because she behaves worse than animals in public places, and is clearly out of her league in her need for self recongnition, someone put her in a straight jacket. My Dog goes with me everywhere to work and to play this freak would not leave my dog alone and tried to shove food into his mouth, which he did not want, and then kept shouting to see his water bucket, and despite seeing his water bucket called animal control and destroyed our meal, then when I left to pick up something to munch on for my pet, while my spouse ate alone, because this freak claimed my dogs head was stuck in an open window, which was a lie, the window was rolled down enough that there was no way his head could have been stuck, this freak started yelling he was hungry and kept shoving food at me, I refused to let her feed my dog so she threatened that as the boss of animal control she will call animal control, why I have no idea, my dog was riding with me, can someone tell me if she can be sued for stalking folk in parking lots making false charges and for Public nuisance and provoking folk to get into a brawl with her and for using public office to intimidate people that she will take their Dog away from them. This freak waited for three hours in the parking Lot while we took turns to take care of our dog, and run errands while one party was eating, because each time she saw us eating together, she would call animal control, that our dogs was hungry or his head was stuck, by the way she was sitting on the next table to us, and we could see that dog just as well as she and knew she was lying, yet she wasted tax payer money on calling animal control after hours three times, on a cool day, when other dogs were riding with the folk in all other parking lots, she looked like a lonely crazed woman, and should be released from her job, my sweet dog was rescued by me when the police were taking him to the pound, and since the death of my child/pet of 20 years last year has become our riding partner, and our gaurd Dog. He can open doors, he is good to cats, he gets home cooked meals with chicken mixed vegetables and brown rice, daily, and this witch was trying to take him away from us-I am fit to be tied, I want her fired.
