They took a beautiful stray Mastiff I found wondering around Ming. I am surprised no one seem to know where it came from . I was about to give up after the Kern county shelter and the ASPCA wouldn’t take him, this place did, and I thank them for it. He is huge puppy and gentle , if I hade a place for him I would have taking him in Hope they find the owner and or a loving family for him.
Great organization that helps reunite pets and owners. Pet adoption is affordable.
I adopted a puppy from this shelter just a week ago come to find out the puppy has parvo, I got to enjoy the puppy for 2 days and then she got sick, the supervisor we talked to was very rude and disrespectful about how she talked to us about our puppy, now my other dogs are exposed to parvo and she wasn’t wanting to cooperate, and hung up on us several times. Finally they took her yesterday to get treatment but when the lady came out to admit her in she was rude and didn’t care and just disrespectful gave us no hope for her and just pretty much told us she’s going to die and it happens and just shrugged her shoulders, these people don’t care about the animals in their shelter. And don’t care if they adopt our puppy’s with parvo and expose multiple other dogs it’s honestly just ridiculous. 1st pic is the day we got her last 3 are her sick and wanting nothing to do but lay down.
City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center is a very good place I was able to take a tour of their facility. And I can say that I didn't know how much work goes into running an animal shelter. If you mention Kern County Outreach the shelter will waive your adoption fee.
We had an appointment with the Snip Bus that was located this time at the animal shelter. So grateful for them and their services. I had two pups fixed on two separate occasions. And my pups are doing wonderful. Thank you Snip Bus and Bakersfield Animal Control services.
Where to begin! Called because after posting on the Nextdoor app was informed that Animal control could help. What a joke from the messsge that one should leave their information and dispatch will return your call “shortly “. I left a messsge in the morning, then at 2:30 PM and then at 4:00 PM since they close at that time per the website. I calked again at 5:00 PM at left a message that if I do not hear from anyone by 10 AM the next day I was going to call the mayors office. Vanessa called me back asked questions about the cat and per my response the city could not help. The big joke is the Supervisor Tammy that Told me “she didn’t care if I spoke to the mayor every day they gave DECENT service to Bakersfield “. Would ask me a question then interrupt me while I was attempting to respond. I let her know I have some limitations to no avail..A very kind and respectful young man picked up the animal, the supervisor should get tips on dealing with the public and service. Tax dollars at work for sure!
