The idea behind Equine Outreach is great, but the actual execution is another story. There are so many horses here that many of them do not get the proper care they should. I realize the monetary cost to run a facility such as this is extremely high, which is my point. Equine Outreach does not have the proper funds to provide the horses hoof care, hay, or grain. I recently attended an orientation, and had a chance to look around. There are numerous signs saying hay and grain supplies are dangerously low. Also, if you look at over half of the horses feet, they are in terrible shape. There must be 75 horses at this facility. It is sad to say, but you can't save them all. You need to provide EXCELLENT care to as many as possible, but not end up hoarding horses. Also, I'm not sure who is in charge of this place, but I saw several people drinking alcohol here. What's that about?

I have been here for a year now, and just have to say that equine outreach does amazing things for these horses. I have seen horses come in skin and bones and the love and care that equine outreach provides for these horses is so awesome that the horses look better in a couple weeks or less. Seeing volunteers be willing to spend the night with a sick horse gives me a warm heart. Please take some time to come and get to know these horses and voluneers, I promise you will fall in love.
