Dr Slaughter was extremely attentive to my elderly cat. I was only here for the summer but they were able to fit her in as a new patient to ensure she could continue her Solensia shot and help her arthritis. My cat was quickly changing as her age was catching up to her. Despite one appointment only being a quick tech visit to give another shot, Dr Slaughter met with us for a long time to address my concerns and to ensure my cat was doing well. She ran a blood panel and gave her an IV drip because she was very dehydrated. All of this naturally takes a long time so I'm grateful they made time for her. I received the lab results quickly back too. Dr Slaughter talked me through the results, which I appreciated understanding what's going on at a deeper level. Although I'm still adapting to how best to care for her through these times, Dr Slaughter and her team were comforting that I'm doing okay in helping my cat and gave lots of tips to help her along. She is loving the chicken liver and is healthier with the new food. Thank you for the care my sweet baby!

The staff were all very kind and professional from the moment we walked in to the moment we left- the vet/asst. were both very gentle and with our cat. I watched them clean the room before and after our visit. I don’t normally leave reviews but I found that the ones posted were mostly negative and made me skeptical to bring my cat here, but I’m glad I did! Such a better fit for us in comparison to our last vet.

We started going to Hidden Brook when we got our puppy in August of '22. We have been very happy with the care we have received from Dr. S and her team. Dr. Slaughter takes the time to answer all questions and is very knowledgeable and caring. I find Kim to be extremely responsive to all needs, too. The facility is clean and efficiently run. Highly recommend!

Compassion and and bed side manners are not qualities to expect here. I brought my geriatric cat in for euthanasia, a decision that is difficult to make and the worst day for any pet owner. We were put in, what felt like a closet with odd machines on the counter. It was certainly not like any exam room I've ever seen in a vet's office. We understood that a wellness visit was part of the process. Those services were not rendered: she did not weigh the cat, take it's temperature, or feel his organs. As soon as the Dr. entered, she made it evident that she was not interested in hearing from us why we were there, what we have observed with our cat's declining health. Instead, she wanted to run a series of tests to understand what is going on with the cat. We explained that regardless of the results, treatment for a 14 year old cat was simply not an option. We explained that his quality of life has deteriorated recently and treatment wouldn't likely turn things around or extend the cat's life in a meaningful way. The Dr. insulted us by suggesting we were putting our cat down because he was an inconvenience to us. The treatment we received was terrible. The Dr. was not interested in hearing about our experience and seemed to be more interested in running up the bill by requesting expensive and unnecessary tests. The decision to put a pet down is difficult, emotional, and sad. It's hard to imagine how to make losing a pet more difficult, but Dr. Slaughter did it. She made us feel worse about our course of action with her dismissive approach. My advice: seek out a different vet. This was THE WORST experience and I would hate for anyone else to have to go through what she put us through. We had to find a different vet, one with more compassion and understanding of our situation.

I have been taking my 4 year old Basset Hound to Dr. Slaughter since he was 9 weeks old. The day after he arrived from Missouri in fact. Bassets have their share of health issues and I can say that I always feel like Skipper and I are a priority at Hidden Brook. Dr. Slaughter and her staff love on him like he was their own. And no matter how over the top with worry I am about anything going on with Skipper, they listen and address all his needs! Hidden Brook is clean and an efficiently run veterinary care facility! While costs have gone up in all facets of life these days, Dr. Slaughter always finds ways to help me save money on Skipper’s needs too. I highly recommend Hidden Brook for your veterinary care!
