I have been contemplating for a couple days whether or not I wanted to post a review of my experience. The first reason why I hesitate is because for the most part it seemed that everyone I encountered with was really sweet and seemed to listen to what I had to say about the kitten I was having to surrender. However, it wasn’t until the day of her surrender and afterwards that things took a very drastic turn. I took a kitten in on June 29th to have them look at her to see if she would be a good candidate for the facility. While there I told them everything about her, such as she was found in a car engine and so she was pretty skittish but had never lashed out at anyone in my family or any of my animals. The most she ever did was hiss at my dogs, but never once tried to bite them or claw at them. She just hissed to let them know she wanted her space. For weeks my family had been contemplating keeping her, but due to our situation at the time, we thought it best to give her a shot to find a better home. Now when I went in on June 29th, I told the ones I spoke to that if they ever had issues with her if I surrendered her to let me know and I would gladly come back for her. We ended up surrendering her on July 18th and I took my sister with me. While I was there I told MULTIPLE employees that if she wasn’t adjusting well to give me a call and I would gladly come get the kitten and take her back. On July 24th, I sent an e-mail because I really missed the kitten and was contemplating getting her back so when I emailed I asked how she was adjusting and that I really missed her and wanted to know when they would put her up for adoption. Only for them to call me on July 25th and leave a vague voicemail about calling them back. I called them back twice afterwards to no answer and then again later before I had to go to work. Well on Friday, my mom said she had this bad feeling about everything and when I called them again I left a message saying that I wanted to come back and pick the kitten up and we wanted to officially keep her. Only for them to call me and leave me a vague voicemail again and I told them in my message that if I didn’t answer to call my mom. My mom ended up calling them asking about the kitten only to be told that they put the kitten down on July 23rd. They said it was due to her not adjusting well and having behavioral issues. Mind you, I told them REPEATEDLY that if there were any issues to call me and I would take her back and they ignored what I said and went and euthanized her anyways. They had this kitten for 5 DAYS and couldn’t give her the time to acclimate that she needed and didn’t give me enough time to reach out, which I told them I would because I even got a card from them so I could email. It astounds me that a facility that will tell those who adopt animals from there that it may take weeks for the animals to feel comfortable in their new surroundings and they couldn’t even give this kitten a week. I am so disappointed with how they handled the whole situation and that they disregarded everything I told them. This kitten wasn’t even a year old and was the SWEETEST. She loved being held and would fall asleep in my arms all the time and she loved to play with other kittens. I will never ever recommend Columbus Humane to anyone after this. I’m happy for the ones who got a good experience from them, but I am saddened that they killed a kitten who would’ve had a good home had they taken the time to write a note that said to call me before they ever did anything that drastic. I literally am heartbroken because I never even got the chance to try to get her back and it’s something my family and I will have to live with for the rest of our lives.

I got Win here a few weeks ago. The lady and staff - very kind. The only thing that I didn't really like was that they didn't really have much information about Win and some of the info I was given wasn't entirely correct. I took a risk and I am very happy I did! I was able to speak with the former owner because he was chipped and the former chip company let me with their permission. He actually was a service dog previously for an old man on dialysis who died sadly! I gave 4 stars also because they did neuter him without giving him a collar, leading to an infection.. when I asked why they stated they only give collars when the dog is fidgety... i think no matter what they all shouldd get it just in case... but i guess that is protocol. However, I cleared that right up at VCA by getting him so antibiotics ;) I went over to Petsmart and got him the inflatable one. They give everyone who adopts from them a coupon for adoption for VCA (a free vet visit) which was helpful, let me pick my leash, and were very patient to me during the process. They also gave me a lamb chop toy he loves. I was planning to have him trained as a service dog because I have ADD and Autism. But he already helps me find my keys my phone, and he does deep pressure therapy when I am overwhelmed! So no need! I greatly appreciate Columbus Humane. Thank you. :)

This place was huge. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They had many volunteers that took great care with human interaction with all the animals they had (holding, petting, and playing with) The staff let you do your thing in being able to interact with the animals as long as certain rules were followed, all of which were understandable. We were so pleased to see so many visitors and adoptions the day we were there. The place was super clean. Didn’t even smell like there were animals in there. A lot of you may know what cat pee smells like or the general dog smell but it didn’t have either. My daughter adopted a 5 month old kitten. The kitten came neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, and a free 14 day follow up. The HS also offered pet insurance. My daughters kitten is A ball of energy with giant paws and big ears. Tiger/marbled bengal mix. Meet Zero.

Columbus is humane and they do fantastic work. We have had our girl for just over 4 years and I wouldn’t change a minute of it. Everyone was so kind and I recommend everyone to adopt and not shop for their new best friend!

Amazingly clean, large, bright, friendly place. Tons of kittens, cats, and rabbits. We didn’t look at the dogs. It was easy to adopt and the staff was excellent. This would be a great place to take kids, either to adopt or just to volunteer.

Went here over the weekend. They were having 50% off cat adoption. I wanted to adopt all of them, if only I could. The place was clean and the staffs were personable and helpful.
