Thanks to pawboost post on Facebook, I was easy to locate when my 3 dogs were found. Animal shelter called us and even though it was after hours they let us stop by and take our pups home. Thank you Haltom city PD as well for saving our dog’s lives tonight by taking them to the shelter.

I drive through the Haltom City area on my way to work sometimes based on traffic, I work in south Fort Worth about 10 minutes away from Haltom City. I found a very nice stray dog this morning in an area I believed to be Haltom City. So I took the dog there and was immediately greeted by a woman who initially had her legs kicked up on a desk first thing in the morning. She asked why I came in and I said I found a very nice stray that I did not want to get hit etc. I have rescued several strays in the past in different areas so I know they need the most accurate description of where you found the dog etc. that’s nothing new to me. But this girl essentially interrogated me about where I found the dog and she was extremely rude. When I pulled up the location I believed I had found the dog on the map she seemed like I was now putting her out and her and her “supervisor” an extremely rude man were trying to tell me the area was Fort Worth when in fact it wasn’t. Then upon taking my ID the woman read the form to me as if I was a child accusing me of dumping a dog at their shelter. Extremely disrespectful to do. She stated over and over that I would be cited if they found out I owned the dog and I finally had to say that if they didn’t want to do their jobs and were going to treat me like this I would take the dog somewhere else. Then AGAIN I was accused of lying about where I found the dog and was told that they were going to check security footage of the gas station in the area of where I found the dog. I was treated very rudely and disrespectful by city staff at an animal shelter when I was just trying to do the right thing. The city needs to look into and investigate the people who are currently working at this shelter because they do not have the education, emotional capacity or empathy to do this job. No wonder an animal shelter where people are supposed to have good hearts and be kind and caring has below 4 stars. I would give it 0 stars if I could. No clue how they treat animals there if they treat animal rescuers like this.

My son and I found a dog while at our apartment complex playground. Nobody claimed him so I drove him up to the haltom shelter. The entire time this woman was repeatedly asking if he was mine and accusing me of lying. Threatening that they were going to open an investigation and they would find out if the dog was mine. The dog whined as I walked out and she really called me back inside to AGAIN accuse the dog of being mine. This is not the first time I’ve found a dog at our apartment complex and brought the dog to them. The first time it was after hours for the shelter and a man kindly met me up there and took the puppy (unfortunately he had distemper and was put down). But he was kind about the whole ordeal. This woman today was aggressive and rude. Even saying that they “dont see dogs at large in an apartment complex” umm okay????

We had been to a few shelters, to find our new family friend and we were absolutely blown away with this place! From start to finish it felt like the animals were being served properly and that we were being treated like royalty with such care and consideration and it really did feel like it was normal for them to act like this. the place was built well and it made sense on how they build it and it was extremely clean

I found a small kitten in haltom city that I attempted to turn into this shelter. They told me they couldn't take her "because she's too young" and suggest I take it to another place. Well, those places don't open for another 4 hours. So it's either 1) I have to put my day on hold to care for this cat or 2) I just let the cat go back on the street. On my way out the door, "Howard" told me "but we will take the cat if it's necessary since you found it in haltom city." Bro.........yes it Is necessary this kitten doesn't even look fully weened off its mother. I should just apply to work here since I'm already doing all the work. May as well get paid for it.

My boyfriend and I went in earlier today with a young kitten we had found at our house the night before. I explained to the lady up front and what appeared to be the supervisor that we had heard the kitten under our house and had managed to catch it later that night. We were immediately met with comments such as “Are you sure it’s not your cat” and “Stray cats don’t act that sweet.” After the papers were signed, the supervisor proceeded to explain that there would likely be officers in our area asking about the kitten, whether to find the owner or to ask if it has been seen on our property before. I’ve never felt so criticized for trying to do the right thing by an animal and make sure it doesn’t end up starved or run over. I’ve worked with several shelters over the years and this is by far the rudest and least professional service I’ve seen.
