We adopted a 4 year old pit/great Pyrenees mix from the shelter a year ago. We also foster for them on a regular basis. I highly recommend this shelter - it is ran very well!
Apparently CITY OF BARTLETT ANIMAL SHELTER likes to tell people to go pick out a dog from the back to euthanize so they can take a dog that you found on the street. The supervisor is also extremely rude and incompetent.
My son is in the process of moving to Ms from Northaven. We were back and forth dropping furniture off to our house. He put his three dogs in 3 cages so that they wouldn't get out. Not even two hours later somebody called sheriff to pick up his dogs. We believe it was the neighbor cause she has been saying weird things to the other neighbor about my son dogs. Keep in mind his dogs are trained and well mannered. So thesheriff picks up the dogs from out our backyard and takes them to a shelter in Memphis. They were closed Monday so when he goes does down there Tuesday to get his dogs, they start adding on fees for this and that. The total cost came to 3,300 dollars. Then they say that they will have to spade and spade his dogs. Chyna the presser pit is his breeder. I really don't understand why they are charging him 3,300 when Title 10 states that if the owner comes for their dog that is impounded all they have to do is pay 30 dollars to get them out. This is so crazy. He had Chyna for nine years. Chyna moved with him down here from Mo. He has medical records and papers but why are they giving him a hard time to get his pets back, untouched?
It was super easy to adopt. They don't take any animals in from outside the Bartlett area so FYI. We first got to look at the dogs then got to play with the one we liked. Then once a selection was chosen, then came paperwork. Two pages and then the payment. After that the dog was ours. The dog comes with alot so it have a good email address. They were not rude and very helpful. Loved the experience.
Rarely do I write a review but after dealing with the Bartlett animal shelter, I figured I had to after dealing with Stephanie. I walked into the shelter this morning with a stray kitten that wondered to my house. I was not greeted at all, there were 3 people at the front desk(person who answers the phone, the trapper, and Stephanie) Eventually the guy who answers the phone asked if I needed help, I explained to them I thought the cat was dumped due to trying to run inside the house and his behavior. The first thing Stephanie said was the cat looks healthy, just put the animal back outside. Stephanie informed me cats are free to roam in Bartlett, I explained to her I live close to a busy street and that this cat is not an outdoor cat but her reply was cats are smart. They did not touch the cat or they would have realize you can feel the bones, the cat tummy was full because we fed him. The people at the shelter did not ask to see my DL so maybe they thought I didn’t live in Bartlett, whatever the reason they were so quick to get me out of the shelter. I will say the guy who answers the phone was nice but Stephanie lacked any communication skill and had zero compassion for the kitten. The Bartlett shelter does not have to worry because I will reach out to rescuers who actually care and I will try to find a home for this kitten.
Well kept facility and the staff are awesome!
