Should have read the other reviews first. This was my first time visiting this place. The doctor didn’t introduce himself and didn’t ask anything about the cat or any detail about the cat situation or behavior. Basically didn’t seem to care and said “you know better about the situation” when I asked questions only the vet would know better. Yes I know how long my cat has had the situation but I would hope the doctor would be able to explain the cause and effect and the care required instead of just seemingly talking words which is hard to understand. Doctor does not seem to care, the front desk seemed friendly but seemed also apologetic about doctors behavior and the amount of time it takes. My usual vet is not available until Tuesday so I had to bring in to this place on Sunday as this was recommended by the Hayward shelter. I had high hope they’d also have same quality service as my regular vet but I most likely won’t return. The exam is done out of sight for the caretaker… maybe I am used to the other one doing in front of me but this does not give a good vibe.

This location is the most unprofessional and scam of a vet I have ever interacted with. They charged me 80$ for a wellness checkup (which I was fine with) to make sure my cat (11 months) was ready to be neutered. The vet then broke down all of these other tests and vaccines he wanted to do over talking me and ignoring me when I was telling him I already had those services completed when he was 5 months old. Then they brought me a care plan of around 700$ just to get him neutered. While this was going on they took my cat to the back where I was not present for the exam and after I paid for the exam they gave me him back without saying a word about how the exam went. I had to try and pry it out of them how the checkup went and got just a 👍. Will not be returning and I highly encourage you to look for your services else where. That being said. The woman at the front desk was incredibly helpful and was incredibly honest. All the support and love for her. I hope she can work at a location that values the animals and their owners more in the future.

I've given this place more money and chances than I should have. Service has gotten worse each time we visit along with constant new staffing. We have never gotten the same vet, always different. Aside from them leaving my dog and I in a room for over an hour with no explanation of when the "NEW" vet would see our dog considering we had an appointment. All we were told is "we're understaffed "The only thing consistency from this vet is that your vet will never be the same and that the front office and parking lot will always be stained and smell of dog piss. Please go here if you like overpriced, inconsistent care for your pets. You'll love it.

If you value your pet's well-being, I strongly advise against choosing Castro Valley Animal Hospital. The primary focus of this establishment appears to be on financial gains rather than the health and welfare of your beloved animals. My wife brought our dog, Snowy, to this veterinary clinic on Saturday, 11/11/2023, at 9:00 am for his annual wellness check and vaccines, with Dr. Brar attending to him. During the visit, Snowy was administered three vaccines along with Diphenhydramine, an antihistamine intended to prevent potential allergic reactions to the vaccines. Unfortunately, Snowy did have an allergic reaction, marking the second occurrence of such an incident at this establishment. Upon reaching out to Castro Valley Animal Hospital and speaking with a receptionist named Marissa, we were met with a defensive attitude. Instead of expressing genuine concern for our pet's well-being, Marissa questioned whether the reaction could be attributed to the vaccines, asserting that too much time had passed between the injections and the reaction. We highlighted that this had happened before, and upon Marissa reviewing Snowy's chart, she acknowledged its documentation. When we requested to speak with the vet, we were informed that the vet was no longer available for the evening. Marissa suggested contacting an emergency vet or waiting until Monday to speak with their vet. When we inquired about reimbursement for the morning's visit due to the clinic's error, she insisted we would need "definitive proof" that the reaction was caused by the vaccines. My suggestion to the Castro Valley Animal Hospital is to better train your staff to have compassion for distraught pet owners. Have the vet review charts before administering medicines, vaccines, or any other type of medical care. Take responsibility for your work and your actions.

I regret not reading the reviews before coming to this place. Booked a same day appointment with the urgent care for my dog’s swollen paw. I came in and the vet only talked about a treatment for his infected ears that cost more than $1,400. This estimate didn’t even include an explanation or treatment for his swollen paws! They took one hour to “triage” him in the back and it took me another hour to finally ask for him back and go to another vet, who gave me a more transparent diagnosis and estimate. I may have wasted money on the emergency visit but I’m glad I walked away and went to another vet that took the time to give me a real solution instead of finding other problems in my dog that I didn’t come in for. The other vet I went to quickly identified his swollen paw as a symptom of foxtail lodged inside his skin and was able to sedate and take it out the same day. I’m in disbelief that this place would have only cleaned my dog’s ears and let his swollen paw go untreated.

Terrible. I had an 12:30pm appointment. They took my pet in at 12:30 FOR JUST AN INITIAL PHYSICAL CHECKUP and wasn't done until 1:45pm. I remembered the sign in sheet. It looks like they have scheduled appointments every 10 or 15 minutes; there is only one doctor at this place. Seems excessive. While I was there, I went online to look at the reviews of this place and I was scared cause of all of the bad ones, so I texted my vet (unfortunately her clinic isnt open today), to ask about her opinions of this place, and she said she's not a fan of their medical practices nor their customer service. The doctor was rude. I just went to another place. I got a much better service without the scammy pricing. Also this place does the checkup without you in the room.... my pet was gone for over an hour and IDK what they were doing with him. The 2nd place I went to was able to point out all his problems within 15 minutes, and in front of me.... My cat loves people including vets but he was so anxious / worked up after the 1+ hr visit at this place... I should have looked at reviews online first before coming here, but I was in a rush. Don't make the same mistake I did. Definitely a waste of time.
