Description City Rescue Mission offers a path back to hope. Instead of indefinite shelter, we offer a clean, safe, temporary place to stay and successful programs and services to help people transform their lives for the better. Through our Bridge to Life recovery program, we help people overcome the problems and issues that prevent them from living their best life. And we support our guests every step of the way, with job training, educational opportunities, access to Service Coordination through Case Management Services and more.

I showed up in the middle of the night. I was told about City Rescue Mission by a nice gentleman who parked cars for a living at a hotel. So I walked until I found it. I stayed there for two weeks. They charged my phone for me and got ahold of my Daddy. He drove up from Texas and rescued me. I met a lot of good people there. I was lucky because some people I met are still living there. They fed me and gave me a place to sleep. I went to church services with other ladies I met. I will always appreciate City Rescue Mission for helping me. I met friends for life. August 2023. I will always be grateful. My dad had to show a recent picture of me and prove who he was before he could take me home. Great security to keep people safe. Lots of families with children. I am so glad God guided me in the right direction. Angels on Earth.
My 5 Starts are for Case Manager Jasmine Wesley, and Kitchen Assistant Director AKF ( Anitra Kay Fortenberry) . Anitra , besides from being a great cook, is a person full of life , who lights up the faces and hearts 💕 of too many of us . No matter how down and discouraged we are feeling, AKF's amazing hospitality is our remedy. It makes us forget our depression... And as for Jasmine, Her patience, communication skills, problem solving and smiles are essential for all of us at City Rescue Mission... she has a BIG ❤️ (HEART)...
Racist environment. Not safe. I came here off the street to end up in a hospital, sick. They have 50+ women with no air circulation. It's literally like a sauna. Salvation Army is MUCH better.* If you're desperate and can handle the drama, you can get assistance with housing
I was employed from Sept 27th to Dec 20th. There was no onboarding or training. I learned by trail and error. I guess I made too many errors. Myself and one Security guard to the entire women and family center from 5p-11p. The security guard was on his phone or in the break room most of my shift. I had no way of knowing what to except as I wasn’t given any training and the position was so new the person who did my interview wasn’t even sure what it would look like. I meet with supervisor maybe 3 times (including the time I was let go) and none of those times did I get told something needed to changed.
As soon as you walk in the women in the front are gossiping and talking about the residents in front of the others. One of the case managers belittles the women and children there and no one bats an eye because they’re scared they’re going to get put out. We’ve had a room there for quite sometime, however people I know trying to get in state that they advise them that there aren’t any rooms available and turn them away. You have to look like you’re strung out just to get help it seems. The black case workers must have issues at home that they come take out on the residents because they are the definition of unprofessional. They act like they work for the state or something. You can tell this is the only real professional job they’ve ever had because they act like they’re not used to anything. One case manager spoke to a grown woman like she was a child because she asked her if she could help her research other assistance programs. All these 5 start reviews may seem sweet, however I’ve seen and heard a lot of complaints about the nasty attitudes at this establishment. Please pay your employees more so they can have something to look forward to other than putting down potential clients.
I've been staying here at the mission since March and they go over and beyond with love support and help today is memorial day and the volunteers are catering to us. This my first experience being in a shelter and I feel more safe looked after and cared for then all my years even from blood family I am truly blessed for God bring me here to take the time to regroup and reevaluate my life path. I totally recommend anyone in need put a side your pride and get the help you need especially when there's good places and people here to give it. This mission helps families, recovering addicts, men and women
