My daughter recently rescued a small kitten she saw abandoned in our neighborhood. We took it to Russell County Animal Shelter and the older security guy asked me SEVERAL times if this was my kitten and said that if it is, I can say so I wouldn’t have to pay anything. I was patient and told him no, it’s not mine at least four times. Then once my daughter came back inside, he asked her SEVERAL times if the kitten belonged to her even though she had already told them she found it. This repeated questioning, as if we were lying, made us feeling very uncomfortable and it hurt my daughter’s spirit because she was so happy to save a kittens life. I will never bring another animal to them. I will never adopt from nor donate to them. The young ladies were nice but they didn’t bother to step in while he was accusing us.

Hands down the cleanest shelter I have ever been too. It’s crazy when you walk in the door it’s like are there even animals in here. Very friendly and happy staff. They didn’t have what I was looking for that door but I will definitely be back. 🤩🤩🤩🤩

Went to look at an animal was told he was on a 7 day hold that we could put our name on the list and we were the first ones on the list for that animal. Waited until Friday like we were told ...called up there to go get him and they had already adopted him out. I knew something was not right when I looked on Thursday and his picture was taken off the website. This is totally wrong .

7/29/24, 8:57pm: ANIMAL CONTROL-PLEASE HELP STRAY DOG: UCHEE HILL HWY & LANDFILL RD. Brown, medium sized dog with smooth coat (might be Pitt/Doberman). Has mainly been hanging out by two mailboxes across from island in the road. Emaciated condition. No one in an official capacity wants to help. They're all pass the buck types. This county desperately needs an on-call or weekend animal control. Have called and left several messages about a stray dog some @^#$*! dumped at a street corner. No one answers the @!@$& phone (what are they doing?) & no one has called me back. Alabama DGAF about animals. They're left to roam & then either starve to death or get hit by some speeding @^!&!. Why is Animal Control always so difficult to contact? How do people even get hired with such awful work ethic?
