I live in Richmond, VA and I found an American robin with a broken wing. Although the Wildlife Center of VA is about 1.5 hours from me, the front desk gave me phone numbers of several volunteers who transport animals. All of the volunteers called me back within half an hour and they were VERY kind. The front desk was also helpful to me on the phone. They also gave me a patient number so that I could follow-up on the bird’s case. Sadly, the bird I found had to be euthanized. His wing had substantial damage and I was sad about this outcome, but they wrote me a very nice email explaining their decision and how this was the most humane option. If you live in Central VA and find injured wildlife, it might be worth calling them first because they do have transporters

Must go, the amazing things they do for VA native wildlife is incredible. They should all be praised for the work they do. The tour was wonderful and very educational.

Everytime I've taken or have recommended to others to take needy animals to them it's always ended up with a disappointment. I know of no animal that was ever rehabilitated at this facility.. if you want an animal to thrive and get better this is not the place to take it.

This group of wonderful people agreed to treat an injured bird I found. It is in a beautiful location!

We took a groundhog here that had gotten into a fight with something, but he was still breathing so we helped him. Even to the point of my wife holding him like a baby. We got him to eat and drink water. He wanted to live. He was up and moving, making noise and wanting out when we left! Got a call the other day from here telling me they euthanized it and it didn't have rabies, but the person that called me was very nice.
