This review is overdue but I wanted to wait until Bo, my 4 year old Golden Retriever, was healed pretty well to write it. We’re giving Dr. Bates and the entire team at ARISE an enthusiastic 5 stars! Dr. Bates is an amazing surgeon who pulled off an intense 8 hour surgery to carefully remove a large Chondrosarcoma that had gone undetected for a long time and was growing from his ribs into his chest cavity. Dr. Bates did an excellent job of outlining how she would do the surgery and the risks that were involved (there were many) and helped me make the decision to go forward in an attempt to save his life. The fact that she was able to successfully remove the very large tumor, the affected ribs and move muscle around to create a cover AND get clear margins all the way around is nothing but amazing. I don’t think there are many surgeons who could have done this so well and while I hope none of my dogs ever need surgery again, if they do, she will be the only surgeon we will use going forward. I also want to give kudos to the critical care team who took exceptional care of Bo after the surgery for several days. I was able to visit him several times and can attest that they have a wonderful, dedicated staff and it appears, a newer, state of the art critical care facility. If you’re in the terrible situation of your pet needing surgery, I highly recommend Dr. Bates and the team at ARISE. She saved my Bo and he should now be able to live out a nice long life. Thank you all!!!
We had brought one of our dogs in for severe pancreatitis. The staff were helpful when it came to diagnosing the issue our dog was experiencing. From there they worked with us regularly to provide updates, ensure our companion was well taken care of, and comfortable through out the process. Even when our dog was in the ICU, they let us come to the back and visit her despite things being a bit hectic at the time. I would advise calling ahead if you plan to visit your companion if they are in the back at the ICU. This lets their staff plan ahead so they can accompany you better to spend time with your loved one.
Definitely recommend this clinic! I came home this morning to my dog suddenly hidden in the kennel whelping in pain, instead of wandering the house with us like she typically does. After a quick once over of her paws and legs to ensure there were no cuts or thorns, I found that she refused to let me lift her tail and didn’t want to stand on her hind legs. I initially believed that she possibly had broken her tail or was constipated and was in pain trying to push it out. She was near screaming in pain, shaking, and excessively panting— for no reason that I knew of. Immediately I took her to the closest vet to my house which happened to be this clinic. Immediately, Rachel at the front desk was so incredibly nice. I’ll admit I was quite flustered that this seemed so sudden, and I had rushed to get here as quickly as possible— But she softly directed us to the forms necessary while someone came to triage my dog. After about 15 minutes, they pulled us into an exam room to gather a little bit more information, before revealing to us that my dog had given birth!! We had zero idea that she was pregnant, and saw no signs of pregnancy since she had not gotten any bigger, her teets had not grown in size, and she had zero other energy, personality, or eating changes. This was definitely a shock to us since we typically only have two other girl dogs in the house, but soon realize that the one accidental encounter that she had with a boy dog must have been the reason for this result. Leaving now with a puppy, they were so kind and provided material and advice for me to keep my dog comfortable as well as for caring for the puppy! I understand the irresponsibility of this chance encounter that led my dog to this point, but I didn’t feel judged by the staff at all, despite how often they might encounter owners like myself that have no clue. I do believe the price was VERY fair for the services and quality of care that was rendered. I understand a complaint of many people when they go to emergency vets is the price— I’ve seen crazy emergency vet bills myself! But if every team was like the one I interacted with today I would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you!
My poor kitten was at deaths door for sure. Severe dehydration and was completely limp. I was so grateful that they admitted him at midnight and miraculously recovered by 9am in the morning! Friendly, knowledgeable, understanding, and compassionate! You can’t get any better than here! Bonus: flexible with the payment! I was so grateful!
This review is long over due. I wish I could leave multiple. We have had the unfortunate experience of having to visit several times. Though an emergency vet visit sucks, everyone has always been so amazing and caring. I wish I could remember everyone’s names. My memory fails me sometimes. Our Kash developed HCM and went into heart failure. Dr. Lozada (sp?) was able to treat him quickly and bring him back to stable. That afforded us another 4 weeks with our sweet Kash that we wouldn’t have had otherwise. When he went into heart failure the 2nd time, we were offered all available treatments. Given Kash’s prognoses, we chose not to go with ALL treatments. We never felt judged for making the decision to stop treating. Everyone was so kind and caring. We are so thankful for the care that our sweet Kash received. And the additional time we were able to spend with him because of that care. Did you know that for critical patients, they offer ventilators like if a human were in ICU? They offered that for our sweet Kash. The level of care that is offered at this facility is amazing. Our other visit was for another kitty with her allergic reaction. She was treated quickly and was back to feeling better in no time. Then yet another visit was for a 3rd kitty. Lol thankfully that was not emergency, but we got to see Dr. G in the cardiac department for some follow up scans. Same level of amazing care. Again, so thankful for such a great facility so close to home. They offer the much needed emergency visits as well as specialty care.
Last week Dr. Bates corrected a portosystemic shunt on our pug. Obviously not a fun experience, but I appreciate that Dr. Bates takes the time to talk to you directly. You do not always get that from surgeons, human or otherwise. Arise also has an excellent staff. The back of the house really cared for Tato and his well-being. Also, shoutout to Stephanie because anytime I called or emailed a question she always responded with an answer.
