Initially, I was so worried about bringing home a new dog, as I have cats and a kid, but the staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The kennel techs really take the time to get to know the animals in their care. They were very patient and helped me identify the perfect pup for my family. We're so happy with our Reina ♡♡♡

We came here on Mother’s Day to just check out our favorite shelter to see who they had that day, but had no idea we’d be coming out with our new family member! Our puppy Tilly (tillamook) is a total sweetheart with the best calm energy. She makes a great addition to our large family and we love her so much! Ive never had such an easy adoption process done in the past so im grateful to paws for making it pleasant for us!🐶🐾

I’ve adopted two of my fur baby cats from PAWS in Kyle, each a year apart. I love the gals at the front desk, each so sweet- big shout out to sweet Anastasia especially (who I hope I’m spelling her name correctly), an actual angel with the calmest energy. I went in yesterday with my daughter hoping to find a new addition for our family, being our cat at home needed a new friend since he has been our one & only. We really wanted to make sure we were making an informed decision to make sure the two would have the best chance at liking each other. Anastasia gave me really solid suggestions on what personality cat would fit best with my alpha boy at home. Sure enough, we brought home Blanche (who my husband has now named Lil Keke lol) yesterday and the two have already hit it off. I will always love and support this shelter :)

Last night I was looking at their website for dogs that are up for adoption and was seriously interested in this beautiful dog and wanting to meet her. My sister and I went to the place about 30 minutes after opening this morning, and when we walked in saying we are wanting to look at the dogs, the shelter people did not tell us where the dogs are located and we struggled to find them. As we went to the dog cages, I spotted the beautiful dog I found online and I really wanted to meet her. They told us we had to sign the 3 page application in order to meet the dog. They checked over the application and was wanting to ask me questions and I was happy to answer them. First they said they wanted to call my apartment complex (keep in mind, I’m a student at Texas State and I am living in an apartment with other roommates involved), and said they were gonna call my apartment complex about the dog multiple times, like they think they were going to scare me. Then they asked about the other pets in my household. I told them I do have a roommate who has a choco lab. They told me in order to meet with the dog and wanting to adopt, I’m going to have to bring my roommate and her dog to the shelter. 1) My roommate and her dog are out of town, and even if they were in town, I was not going to drag my roommate and her dog all the way to Kyle, for a meet and greet. If I were to bring them and the meet and greet does not work out, it would be a waste of our time too. Bringing my roommates dog to the shelter let alone would also be really stressful to her dog. 2) growing up with dogs my whole life, dogs are going to interact with each other and not get along until they get used to being around with each other. Do they expect the dogs to love each other when they first meet? 3) my roommate and I stay at our rooms all the time, it’s not like the puppies are going to be around with each other at all times. We both have our own room and bathroom, and share our common space. I understand of that a dog should be placed in a good home, but it was obvious they were not taking me seriously for adopting a dog because of how young I am, letting alone they were not gonna let me meet the dog so that we see if the dog and I make a good connection. They told me meeting the dog is for “serious inquiries only” and we explained that we saw the dog online and wanted to meet her. The people at the shelter are super judgmental and getting onto my business, and it seems to me they don’t want to get rid of their dogs and give them good homes, and keep them in cages for God knows how long. The manager was also not present with the workers in the front, and the girl who is around the same age as me and giving us grief said they were “low staff” to take the dogs out of the cages when there were 4 staff members sitting at the front desk.

Clean, friendly & fun for kids! We were just walk-ins (my mom, nieces [2 & 5 years old] & I) and they let us pet the cats that were inside their specific rooms to play and rest, and walk through the dog kennel areas. I highly recommend close-toed shoes. They didn't have any scratching animals, but if they bring I dog out on a leash you have to be wearing closed toed shoes.

DO NOT get an animal from this shelter I applied for a kitten that I saw I wrote in the application that I had heard of spray bottle used for bad behaviors I was told that they could not approve my application because of that and when I told them that I would be willing to use good behavior reinforcement therapy because I also stated in that email where I had heard of spray bottle therapy they thought I was still going to use it and denied my application when I tried to call and explain that they misinterpreted my email the so-called supervisor Lauren said there's nothing she could do that I'd already been denied regardless of the fact that they misinterpreted my email and didn't understand that that's not what I was saying at all she just automatically denied me trying to say that it wasn't personally it wasn't judgmental this place is not doing the animals any favors there denying people left and right who would be good homes because of one thing or another that is ridiculous and makes no bearing on whether you'd be a good pet parent or not I feel sorry for any of the animals in here. So if you're looking to adopt I would go somewhere else where they actually care about getting the animals' homes instead of just judging everybody they come across. If I could give zero Stars I would.
