Description Salato Wildlife Education Center is an interpretive nature center featuring self-guided tours of indoor and outdoor live wild animal exhibits. Many of Kentucky's native wildlife and their habitats are on display, including fishes, reptiles and amphibians, bobcats, white-tailed deer, elk, bison and birds of prey. Special programs are sometimes offered, and visits by groups and school classes may be scheduled.

Great trails and plaques along the paths with interesting info. The grounds are well kept and as long as you can tolerate the occasional field strip groups, it's a quiet park-like environment.

If you are going to be in the Frankfort area, or are planning a daytrip.... I definitely recommend a stop here. This is not an all day activity. Maybe a couple hours at best. That being said, it is educational and super laid back.

I've been going here since I was a little girl. I love taking my kids now. This place only gets better through time. Bring bread to feed the birds and gooses.

Last visit 7/16/22. Love to take the trails and look at all of the animals. Lots of places to get above the animals and not have to look through fences all the time. They also have wonderful grounds covered with native plants. We enjoy going for the walk and for the pictures we can get.

A wonderful nature area with lakes for fishing. Great to walk a dog and enjoy the fresh air and the quiet nature. Lots of tables for picnic or just to rest.
