This is only for the grooming, not the store itself. I don’t normally leave bad reviews, but this is unacceptable. We came in for a full cut, a summer cut specifically… and when we got there, the girl was super sweet and helpful. She told me everything looked great, hardly any mats, and they would call me in 4 hours. An hour later we got a call that my golden doodle would absolutely not let them shave the front of him and that he was uncontrollable, that they couldn’t finish and I needed to come get him. She also mentioned on the phone about him needing to be neutered and that it’s been a couple months since the last time I got him groomed. Which yes he does. I adopted him at 10 months old and he is now a little over a year, and we are getting to it. But even if we don’t, it is the owners personal choice and not a requirement for petsmart. She didn’t say it in a nice respectful manner. She said it in an extremely judgmental tone and was very rude. Every time I’ve talked to this girl (Alex), this is how the conversation goes. If she were to tell me in a way that was helpful, and inform me that getting him neutered would help calm him, I probably wouldn’t even be writing this review. But her demeanor is why I am so upset over all of this. That, and sending me with my pup 70% shaved and making me walk out of the store with my dood looking like this!!! No pet parent should ever go through something like this. I don’t need your judgement, I need you to do your job.
I came in and went to find feeders. They are still selling containers of crickets and I don’t know why!!! I picked one up and everything inside was dead and it was full of maggots. I grabbed all the cricket containers and took them to the front. I began looking at fish and so many were dead. Their stock is depleted and the glass on all the fish tanks are disgusting. I asked for a small koi for my 75gal tank to go with my smaller feeders and the fish girl had the audacity to tell me I couldn’t have it cause there are other fish in my tank. Literally. The audacity, you have this fish in a tiny little 20 tank and most of your fish are dead and your tanks are disgusting but OKAY! You obviously know more than a veterinary assistant who specializes in aquatics. Don’t go here.
They completely shaved my maltipoo down saying she was too matted but I don’t think that she was. I believe they were too lazy to brush her. They even charged an extra $20 dematting fee. She just got groomed a month ago at a different location so how was she matted to the point you had to shave her all the way to her skin! She doesn’t even look like the same dog anymore. I’m posting what she looked like before and after. Also, my family and I all agreed that she didn’t even smell fresh after the grooming service. She didn’t smell like any shampoo at all so we don’t think that they even gave her a bath! She smelled the same as she did before we took her. On top of all this, the grooming took about 4 hours 45 minutes and they didn’t give a phone call that she was ready. They just sent a text. I’m definitely finding a new groomer for her. Do not take your dog here.
Do not leave your pup here. Sadly it’s unsafe and mismanaged. We left our pup there for a week. When filling out paperwork we asked if they did pictures of the dogs to send out to the owners since they do not have cameras to watch. They advised they did and for us to fill out some forms to get the pictures. First night, no problem, picture arrived. That was the last time we received a picture. I called twice while out of town to request the pictures, sadly they never came. Upon picking up my girl I was told the form we filled out was so they could use the picture on their social media, not to have them sent to us. So I asked if they ever do send pictures to clients, to which the girl behind the counter said if requested at drop off for sure. If they can’t send pictures of your baby, even after being reminded two more times, who knows what else they are not doing. Missing meals, missing play time, missing care. Who knows, if they can’t do this simple thing, I can’t imagine the tough stuff is done at all. Won’t be back, can’t trust them with the care of my pup. The one and only picture I did get of my pup attached.
The only reason i am giving it a 1 is because of Madalyn she was beyond rude. She is almost every time i come in. She rolled her eyes and huffed and puffed when i asked to have 4 separate bags for 80 crickets giving the fact i have more than one reptile. Due better pet smart with this employee. Everyone else is perfect
Customer Service is always exceptional. To my own surprise, I've turned into an overly protective Dog Dad and some folks in my personal life make fun of it - lol. I truly am concerned, and the Groomer at Pet Smart in Pasadena really makes the uneasiness go away. If she is not there, I feel comfortable with the entire staff as they've proved that they all really care about the pets coming in as if they are their own. The level of detail and safety really shows, and I would recommend Pet Smart's service to anyone.
