We have adopted 2 dogs, would be more if we could from this wonderful place! From the front desk staff, to the care team and administrators they truly care for the well being of every animal that comes through their doors or doesn't as they have a program that helps low income owners keep their pets fed and low cost vet care. We enjoy giving back when we can and have fostered a total of 6 dogs to help the shelter as well as help acclimate the dog for their forever family. I highly recommend you stop by this shelter first when looking for a new furry furever friend.

I appreciate everything the Humane Society does for animals. This review is just a heads up for anyone adopting on a budget. I was asked to leave a $25 deposit each on 2 kittens I was adopting. One could not go home that day because he had to be neutered the next day. I still needed to get supplies, so I decided to take them both home after the surgery. When I went to pick them up, I was told the $50 I had already paid did not count towards the adoption fee. So be prepared to take your new pet home immediately to avoid extra fees. Edit: the shelter manager has contacted me to work out the situation. Their policy is to collect a $25 fee for each pet you want to adopt if you are not taking it home right away and that fee is considered a donation that you pay, in addition to the adoption fee. There is also supposed to be a discount for adopting 2 kittens at once that I was originally denied. So hopefully the employees will brush up on the shelter policies and phrasings and this review will still help anyone looking for a pet. I appreciate Lindsey contacting me to work out a partial refund!

The people at the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City are amazing! We drove all the way from Oklahoma City to adopt a five-month-old corgi. Upon arrival, we waited in our car for the foster parent to bring him over. During this time, we witnessed someone dropping off a dog outside the Humane Society. My wife quickly went inside to inform the staff about the abandoned dog, and in the meantime, a sweet Rottweiler puppy jumped into our car. While we couldn’t adopt him as our home is already full of animals, the Humane Society staff immediately scanned him for a chip. Fortunately, he was chipped, and they began reaching out to his owners. Their quick response and dedication to animal welfare left a lasting impression on us.

Johnny was the best at finding my perfect pet fit. 😍 He is an asset to this shelter and knows details about every potential pet. I'm so glad he took the time to listen to my expectations for my adoption. We're so happy and she's settling in nicely in our home.

The Humane Society has been a blessing for my family and pets. We received quality care, including surgeries, at a reasonable price. The staff has been wonderful. Thank you!

We took our frenchie here to get spayed. We also got her nose surgery and a few hernias fixed at the same time. They were very careful and attentive. They explained everything along the way. They also called to talk to us about the hernias as they found them during surgery. I thought I would never say no, it's is nice they called to discuss before moving forward. Aftercare was explained in depth and was an alraound great experience. Although they did forget our harness, but one of the nurses was kind enough to bring it to our house, but we just met close to home to return it.
