Description Chartered in 1934, the Animal Defense League is a non-profit organization that is a true no-kill shelter for abandoned, abused, or neglected dogs and cats. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for these animals by providing needed medical care, including spaying and neutering. Food, shelter, and safety are also provided ā along with compassion and attention. While maintaining a healthy and loving facility, ADL consistently works to find the best possible home for each resident animal.

We had 3 healthy cats before taking our youngest cat in to get neutered at their spay/neutered event. And now due to the ADL facility's inability to be clean and sterlie, we have 3 completely indoor cats who all have giardia now. And our kitten got vaccines that they already had, after receiving his shot records AND did not cut his nails after we paid for it. Thanks ADL!
A facility of trust, care and love! Dr. Thomas Jefferys, DMV performed the spay expertly. The staff is thorough and wonderful. They have everything running smoothly and efficiently. Iām very pleased with the entire process from scheduling to pick-up; testament is babe acting normally the same afternoon! Thank you to all the hands that were apart of taking excellent care of my precious girl. š¤©šā„ļø
They did a great job with my kitten's spaying, incision looks really good and they supplied after surgery pain management.
I had some issues with last minute schedule changes that resulted in having to board my trapped Feral kitties and another lady's that showed up based on the websites published schedule. They then "forgot" to tip one of the kitties ears (See Post-Op photo). Finally, they elected to "Keep" one of the kitties with no further explanation than "we reserve that right." That kitty ended up being a fixed house cat with a chip that belonged to a neighbor. This took weeks to resolve due to ADL's attitude that some magic 5 days had passed. When I met with their director, Stephanie, there was NO accountability for any of this. She pushed it off on ME claiming I was the problem! Don't shoot the messenger Stephanie! You also got the sex of one Kitty wrong on the discharge paperwork! There is a HUGE difference with recovery and release between a male and a pregnant female! I pay a little more at SNIPSA but believe me, you get a totally different response to any concerns and are treated like a person, not a number. ADL only does 20 cats a day. You would think they could at least get the paperwork straight and be receptive to concerns like the ones listed here that occured within the time frame of a month.
Took our newest member of the family (a stray kitten) in for spaying... everything went smoothly, the staff was clear with all the instructions and little Penelopita is recovering nicely.
I'm embarrassed to say but I didn't get my dog fixed in time and ended up with puppies. I fully blame myself but found 4 out of 7 homes. The other 3 I held onto until I no longer could and thank God for non-kill shelters like ADL. I have nothing but respect for these shelters and they made the process easy. I'm sure they've been adopted by now because they have heavy foot traffic so donate to these non-kill shelters that save animal lives.
