Such an amazing experience for my cat (and me). My cat was very anxious going into her appointment, but the vet techs and veterinarian were so good with her, she didn't want to leave! And when I returned home, my cat was scratching at the front door of my apartment (she wanted to go back :)).
Back when they were located off Elden Street by Jiffy Lube I brought my dogs for check-up visits and occasional repairs. After 7 years and a few life changes for my family plus vet location change, I reached out to see if they were accepting new (return) clients. There was a completely new staff but the name was the same and the same friendly spirit was still there. We've been with Dr. Kinsella and the rest of the team there for several years now. They had an amazing organized system all through Covid for visitations and we are very pleased with all services. Oh and our boy Ammo say he LOVES all the attention and especially the treats! 😊
After bringing my bichon frise hear for almost 1 year and a half, and the fairly positive experiences I had with most doctors, the way I was handled today during my dog's end of life care was very poor. Leading up to today, I brought my senior 14 yo dog in 4 to 6 times over the past couple of months with a range of issues. Today is Friday. My dog was very ill since Sunday, and on Wednesday bloodwork unfortunately pointed to kidney failure. Dr. White was patient with me, giving me options and speaking with me twice that day. I chose one of the options, which was to bring my dog in Thursday for an antibiotic shot and more fluids, hoping that she had a bad kidney infection (vs failure) and if so maybe we could see improvement following the shot. Dr. White made the appointment for me and explained she would not be in Thursday or Friday but would leave great notes in case I needed to speak with another doctor. We also touched on the tough decision of humane euthanasia given her age, overall health, etc. Following Thursday's antibiotic shot, I called in Friday morning about 11am and shared two things 1. I had a question for one of the doctors and wanted to see if they felt any sign of improvement should be seen by now from the shot and 2. I'd like info on a possible euthanasia appointment and pricing - I was considering it that evening because they aren't open Sat/Sun and I'd prefer to do it at a place where my dog and I have been/are comfortable. I just wanted some medical feedback on any probability of the seeing the antibiotics kick in, first. The person I spoke to shared it was a busy day, and she would call me back about speaking to a doctor, and on the euthanasia info, she was not sure right at the moment - I said ok, no problem. A little after 2pm my dog started crying and trying to bite at her butt/tail area. I still had not received a call back, so I called back in frantic, spoke to a new person and explained that I called this morning and had been waiting on a call back, and then explained the recent developments. So now I'm thinking is this a crazy side affect of the antibiotics? Why is she randomly crying out in pain now? I panicked and told the person I'll just bring her in for an appointment if they have one, thinking I can talk to the doctor then. She did call back just a bit later and offered me an appointment but by that time my dog had calmed down and gone back to sleep (it was like night/day). Now that this weird "episode" had subsided I didn't want to wake her up, drag her out of the house just to talk to the vet - again I'm trying to have a 5 minute conversation to get feedback on yesterday's attempt at antibiotics so I can then make the best decision on euthanizing her, not to mention I was still waiting on the quote I'd requested in the morning, and they are not open on the weekends. At this time I'm told to speak to a doctor would now be considered a phone consultation at $90, which up to this point was never mentioned, and the way in which Dr. White mentioned the other doctors on Thur & Fri would be able to answer questions I might have...this was very off-putting. So the time I have in the day to make a decision on if I want to say goodbye to her and put her to sleep TODAY (because I'd have to go somewhere else on Sat/Sun since they're not open), is ticking away as I've been waiting on a call back and pricing info to make a complete decision, only for me to have to call back in for the pricing and then when I follow up on speaking to any doctor so I can ask my final questions before making a final decision - the 5 minute phone call I've been waiting to hear about is now available - at a price. I declined the call and found another animal hospital to complete her humane euthanasia tomorrow. I did eventually receive the quote via email, so at the animal hospital I will go to I am actually paying more and I don't care. It's not the price, but the principal on how I was handled today in trying to make a tough decision in my dogs final hours.
Absolutely fantastic office. Dr. Madigan and all of the staff (KG, Stephanie, and Sadie) were wonderful during my visit. I went in because my cat was limping. Though I opted to get the X-rays done, and very happy I did because he has a pelvic fracture, there was no pressure or guilt by them when I was contemplating my options. They were quick to get me an appointment when I called and just all around incredibly caring, giving me referrals and immediately sending over his results for an orthopedic to look out. I will definitely continue to see them.
Mixed opinion. They're great in-person and treat you and your pet well. The doctor takes good care and they don't try to upsell you. But any communication outside of the clinic is poor, I had to contact them regularly to receive lab results I should've gotten days ago, and they take more than a week/no reply on emails. Maybe the clinic is swamped? They seemed busy.
Disappointed in follow up 2nd shot that required tech to listen to heartbeat & take temperature. Dog had full exam during first visit with all shot except the 2 part shot. Entire visit was less than 15 mins. But due to the “exam”. Was $70+ Left me with the feeling this place is becoming a money first service second facility. Staff were friendly and I have been happy with the veterinarians, although we never seem to get the same ones which is a red flag for me. I will continue to use them for now but am very disappointed in the last visit billing.
