We have been coming to Dr Bowman for over 10 years and would not trust any other vet in DC. Her bedside manner with our dog is so calming and gentle, which is perfect for our new puppy. He is still getting used to city living! We have been to both locations and never had an issue. Thanks, City Paws and Dr Bowman!

This was my second vet appointment with my puppy, and it was terrible due to the receptionist. I scheduled an appointment at City Paws for 11:30am on Tuesday, but they called, insisting I change it to 9:30am or another day due to a system error. They had no later times, so I adjusted my schedule. I arrived at 9:32am for the 9:30am appointment but waited 17 minutes. They then told me it was actually at 9:45am, which I wasn't notified of due to another system error. It was 9:50am, and I still hadn't been seen. The poor communication and system errors were a huge inconvenience and made me never want to return. I did not feel welcomed as a new client.

I've been going to CityPaws for about 6 years now. Recently, my cat Chester started limping and I couldn't figure out why. I was very nervous about it and called right at opening time, left a message, and got a prompt call back. The receptionist quickly helped me make a same day appointment with the first available vet. Dr. Barton was so gentle with my sweet boy Chester, and the vet assistant was also very helpful and kind. They were kind and professional and I left feeling much better about Chester's next steps.

Took both of my cats here for more than a decade. Was generally satisfied with the vets' care over the years but the admin and front desk became a nightmare. At the beginning of June 2024 I brought one cat in for unexplained weight loss. I was never called with her (expensive, that I paid for) test results and had to repeat dial them for 36 hours a week later until I finally got ahold of a human to repeatedly request that they at least send them to me via email until they finally did. I then asked if I could talk to the vet, as she said if cat lost X weight in X period (and she had, after projectile vomiting) to call back — getting the front desk to engage was impossible. I then had a bizarre, circular conversation with I think someone named Melissa that went something like this: "Me: can the vet call in a transdermal appetite stimulant, my cat is not eating, so she is not consuming the pill form; Her: you can't pick that up here; Me: yes, I know, can you please approve it on Chewy; Her: But you won't get it today; Me: Yes, I know, I've acknowledged that, are you going to approve it or do I need to switch vets?" They finally called it in but, frustrated, I switched vets anyway to somewhere that had admin that was easier to deal with, with humans who answered the phone, and returned emails. Turns out my cat was very sick and was dead within three weeks despite heroic efforts to diagnose/save her by another practice. I will always regret not advocating more forcefully/leaving sooner. I might've gotten more time with my beloved pet.

From reception to the vet tech to the vet, the staff was so friendly. The appointment was on time and didn’t feel rushed. They even took the time to update and confirm my dog’s microchip information without my asking. Overall the cost was reasonable.

I am so glad I found CityPaws. Dr. White takes such amazing care of my dog. But that's not only why she's so great - she's personable and takes the time to really explain everything she is doing and why. She's also comprehensive and leaves no stone unturned - she was able to provide me more information about my pup's illness after visiting CityPaws for a second opinion. I always know my dog is in good hands when with her and somehow, even when my pup is sick, she still makes the visit pleasant.
