Description At City Dogs we care for your dog like our own by providing a fun and active environment while also fostering good manners and social skills. We offer daycare, boarding, grooming and retail at two convenient locations. Once your dog is accepted, drop in any time during our business hours for daycare, or make a reservation for an overnight stay. Our daycare is divided into two groups based on size and play level where your dogs can play and socialize with other friendly dogs in a caring setting supervised 24 hours a day by staff in an open air, cage-free environment. Boarding is slumber-party style with daycare friends and our overnight staff. The Grooming salon offers a wide range of services by qualified and professional groomers.

We just had our first grooming experience at City Dogs and everything was great! Alex and Anna at the front desk were super friendly by phone and in-person, and definitely put me at ease leaving my pup there for the first time. It was surprisingly easy to get a same week appointment, which was a nice perk. I am happy to have found a new neighborhood groomer after our previous one moved across town.

We are brand new to DC, and I was very nervous about choosing a new groomer for my great Pyrenees. They have a ton of fur and are massive. Gigi nailed it! My girl looks gorgeous, and she was delighted with the entire experience. 😄

Pernell at City Dogs H St NE did (another) fantastic job grooming our 60 lb. F1 Goldendoodle. She’s got curls for days and we always seem to let it go too long between cuts, but no need to get nervous of a buzz cut with Pernell. They really took care to treat her with detangling solution and I’m so grateful. She came out looking perfect! Thank you!

THE absolute worst dog boarding place I've ever experienced in my entire life (and I'm not even being the least bit dramatic). There are honestly not enough words to describe how frustrating this experience was. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with the nastiest attitude at 9 a.m. When I tried to explain that my dog is a little anxious around new people, I was once again met with the distasteful attitude of the female front desk worker. My dog is a rescue who was abused before she got to me, so OF COURSE she's going to be nervous around new people. I was so irritated when I left the store, and then I was called not even 10 minutes after I left to come back and get my dog due to her anxiety. I've moved around a lot, so I have used numerous boarding places that were FAR more professional and understanding. I will be sure to let anyone know to PLEASE stay clear of City Dogs H Street if you have any sense or even any care for the well-being of your pet in the slightest. Again, let me reinforce that this was THE WORST boarding place I have ever experienced in my entire life, and I am so vexed that I even wasted my time with this horrendous "dog day care facility." *To clarify, Luna has never exhibited any aggressive behavior towards dogs ever. As I've stated before, having lived in various cities, I've utilized many dog care facilities and Luna has never had a problem. It just further affirms that the unorganized atmosphere was just not beneficial for my anxious dog.

We had an appointment for a full groom on a Sunday. I was to drop off my 70lb goldendoodle at noon, which I did. When I asked how long I should expect the groom to take I was told a time estimate could not be provided, first red flag, but the groomer had not yet arrived AND there were 2 dogs ahead of my own red flags 2 and 3. I was also told that when the grooming started I would get a call from the groomer, which never happened. At 5:30pm I called and asked for an update on my dog, red flag #4, to which I was told they had started and still could not provide a time estimate for when my dog would be done. At 7:10, conveniently 10 minutes after they closed, I received a phone call saying my dog would be ready between 7:30-7:45 and was provided the phone number of the groomer to call when I arrived as the store would be closed. When I arrived to pick up my dog at 7:40 the groomer brought her up and asked if I liked her cut in a store without any lights on, another red flag. When I got home and was able to inspect my dog in the light, there were several patches of hair that were not shaved, including around the groin, her back, and overall was clearly a rushed job. I had this appointment days in advance, this was not a last minute request so staffing should have been managed or they should not have taken my dog. I will never visit this establishment again for grooming, given the customer service and quality of work was not worth the $220 paid. Take your babies somewhere else!!!

This is my second time going to city dog to get my Doodle mix Bailey (1YRS 60lbs) groomed. Bailey was cut by Steffano who was a pleasure to work with and did an amazing job consulting me on the best cut for her. I loved the way the cut came out. I am highly satisfied and also I think Bailey enjoyed the experience as well. The cost for the cut totaled out to be $150. Including a $50 Doodle charge. Great service!
