I found a baby sparrow on the sidewalk. I called him before hand and he gave me instructions. I drove over there and told how long it would take for the bird to start flying on his own. I bet that bird is having the best life. The man working there is very kind and clearly has a passion for what he does.
ANGELS!!! Absolutely amazing couple that helps all kinds of birds. I found a bird in my backyard that couldn't fly, I didn't know what to do and I was very distressed about it. I called and Mrs. Karen answered right away and advised me to bring the bird to her. I rushed there and she was SO caring and sweet and helpful. She took him in and is nursing him until he's ready to fly. Grateful for people like this. ❤️
Found an injured bird - what looked like a sparrow. Kept it overnight in my apartment but was unsure if any facilities or rescues would be open due to the federal holiday (July 4). I called Avian Care and was told to bring the injured bird regardless of it being a reserved holiday. I was very grateful that they were able to take the bird as no other facilities were open on this day. They gave a run down of what could have happened to the poor bird and they seemed to know right away on how to take care of it. I am super pleased this place is there to assist! I hope the bird is able to heal well.
Don and everyone at Tom’s River avian care are the ONLY (somewhat local) place that will even take birds!!! He has helped me w/ bird situations many times over the years!! I found a ruddy duck this winter, who was just sitting in the street. They’re migratory birds so he explained it was tired and hungry from the long migration here. I was so happy to hear that about a week later he was able to release her back into the bay along w/ 2 other Ruddy’s that he had! This place is amazing and we are so lucky to have such dedicated ppl in avian care. Bird care is probably the hardest of all the animals! They’re so fragile and usually terrified. Please remember this is a non profit organization. I don’t believe they receive any state funding either. So pls remember to make a donation to help them to continue what they do best!!!
My dad found a little injured fledgling sparrow in the yard that couldn't see well enough to fly. I grabbed the little guy and put him in a box to keep him safe and searched for wildlife sanctuaries in the area. This was the only place offering wild bird care so I drove there right away. I called ahead but the couple that runs the place happened to be out for a while. When I arrived I was greeted very warmly and the sweet man took the bird from me, explained what was wrong with it, and told me that he would likely heal up soon and be ready for realease. I hope the little bird does well
Thank you Don for taking in the injured seagull we brought to you today. It was great to hear his broken wing will heal and he will be released back into wild in approximately 6 weeks.
